Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Phase III testing has begun! During this phase, our realms will be open every day, and we'll only have downtime for updates and maintenance. We'll keep everyone up-to-date about downtimes in Discord.

If you have Alpha Two, you can download the game launcher here, and we encourage you to join us on our Official Discord Server for the most up to date testing news.

Existing Beta 1 subscribers and Early Access

I paid for Beta 1 access way back when, couple of years ago. It now sounds like Steam users will get access to Alpha 2 and all the betas for £49.99, when paid £150 for access to only Beta 1 and 2. This sounds like I am getting royally stiffed on the price AND I will get access much later... Or have I missed something in the detail?

Yes, you are. You get access on Dec 11th along with every else that has B1 or B2 in their packages. Whatever package you got came with multiple months of sub, cosmetics, Embers, and possibly something else I am forgetting. You can always file a ticket for a refund and see what they say (probably no) or just realize that plans change and what they are doing is what is best for the project to make sure it actually releases versus it running out of cash or momentum and your 150 would have been moot.

Still... those who bought the beta packages basically just lost a hundred money units. Why buy into Beta years ago to see it being sold for 50 dollars before you even received yours...

Kind of like putting a bike on lay-a-way (that still happen? did I date myself?) coming back to the store to make that last payment and see the bike on sale for 33% the cost you paid. Of course you'd want a refund. As ^^ unknownsystemerror said, you did get more than just game time. If you're like me I only paid in for the access. You're not going to get a refund.

Either way this a massive gamble on IS part. EA has to be a success in sales, if not it might doomed. Even if they really do have the funding to finish it.

Beta Key dollars were funds to support dev team payroll, so no money units lost.
  • It still feels like a kick in the nads. Been waiting a while, spent $150 for beta access and btw everyone gets in for $50 now. How does that make any sense at all. Say what you want, the early adopters were supporting the devs and the game and we get the shaft. Fine you charge $50 now for early access but geez give us some not real in game items or fake money for the real money we spent. Something.

I mean, that is exactly what we'll be getting on release. Well, except for in-game money.
  • just to confirm, my 150.00 Expeditionary pack including Beta 1 and Beta 2 will result in me gaining access on December 11? If yes, that's good for me.

Yes it will, as well as many other things EA people won’t get including sub time for the game.
