So you think you want to restore a treasure map...

I looted a treasure map, and really enjoyed finding the treasure. The rewards were great. So I thought to myself, hey, I should restore my Faded Treasure Map so I can do another treasure hunt.

And let me tell you, that process was ridiculous.

You want to restore a treasure map? Your going to need a Mystic Lense. But first, you need to get the recipe. After watching the AH over a couple days, I finally found a copy of the recipe for sale, so yay, I'm ready to craft a Mystic Lense. But for that you need Sand, which is a byproduct of metalworking. And copper fragments, which need to be processed from copper. And some Magic Powder, which is crafted using Snowdrop Powder, Daffodil Powder and Essence Crystal. Wtf. I could have processed those ingredients, but the material list and interdependencies were so annoying that I just bought the magic powder from the AH. Oh, you also need a Crushed Monocle, which is a rare drop, and there weren't any on the AH. So go grind yourself a crushed monocle.

Now that you have your Mystic Lense, you are at the starting point. Get yourself some crude paper from a scribe vendor, which you can find in a Settlement that has a Laboratory. Luckily my home Settlement (Winstead) has one, because if not I would need to travel across the map to another settlement. You also need Red Ink, which can be crafted at an Alchemy Station. But wait, in order to craft Red Ink, you need Ruby Powder, which is also crafted using Rough Rubies and some vendor item.

And with your Mystic Lense, Red Ink, Crude Paper and Faded Treasure Map, you are now able to do the restoration.

But wait, before you head out in search of that treasure, don't forget to craft yourself an Excavation Kit (but first process Copper Fragments and Zinc Fragments and gather Wood!).

Sadly, this story doesn't end here. There is a bug with crafting the restoration, and after adding all ingredients and clicking "Craft," nothing happens. This is my bug report.

Idk seems excessive. Maybe I'll update this post if I'm ever able to complete the restoration and find the treasure.

Now imagine that you are a crafter who would like to support such players as yourself, so you do not need to wait 3 days front of the AH, but get it by a travel to the corresponding town (still an hour or two right, since local AH)

If someone would not know, we have an in game restriction that one character could have maximum:

2 grandmaster
1 master
1 journeyman
1 apprentice

In total, so they should cover your gathering + crafting skills as well.

And based on what you described above, even if you are not a crafter, you already should know, that it is impossible to craft anything if you are counting with end game content under the existing restrictions.

So you need an ALT account to transfer resources, items between your main AC's ALTs

Yes, we can go deeper in the rabbit hole: if you would like to cover all 22 artisan skills, you will need 3 ACs in total, so the 3. that still has 2 crafting professions could transfer between your ALTs and your ALT AC's ALTs 😄

So what could a bare footed wannabe crafter do in such times? Yes of course I bought an ALT AC, to make a test as how it works out:

The following scenario covers as how to land ONE ingredient from the many to make a final craft as it is described above:

You have to log in with your main AC lets call this computer "A"
You have to log in with your ALT AC in a different computer, since they can not run on the same (logically) lets call it computer "B"
You have to move to the same place with both characters
Now you have to take the ingredients from the bank of your main ACs ALT and click trade on your ALT AC's character as "trade"
You have to move to computer "B" and click accept trade
You have to move to computer "A" and place the items to the trade window, that click "lock"
You have to move back to computer "B" and click "lock"
You have to move back to computer "A" and click "accept"
You have to move to computer "B" and click "accept"
You have to log out with your main AC's ALT and log in with another ALT that CAN handle the crafting process
You have to move to the same position where your ALT AC's ALT is standing
Click "trade" on your ALT AC's ALT
You have to move to computer "B" and click "accept trade" and place the transferable items to the trade window and press "lock"
You have to move back to computer "A" and click "lock" there as well and after waiting 2 sec, click on "accept"
You have to move back to computer "B" and also click "accept"
Now you have to find a proper crafting station on the map that can craft the item, move your main AC's crafter ALT to that position AND EJOY THE CRAFT!

Well, I do not believe that we should interpret this.

Personally I'm looking for a patch that will dismiss these restrictions or personally I see way too many escalating blockers that would even let this game to stay alive (multiply what I described with your experience and you will see why I'm thinking so)

You could always just interact with other players. Its a mmo after all. Pay someone to restore your map. Buy materials from others, trade them yours. Work together. One person should not be able to solo a mmo. And if you don't like that, too bad.

And if solo player design wins, then so be it. Ill go play something else.

What we had been describing above are actual facts based on game testing - take in count that maybe the OP do not see an issue on my layer, but still these are two in game mechanics issue descriptions that are connected and its hard to debate about it.

Your answer is not based on facts due to testing but better to say they are: -wishes , imaginations, inner projections due to a imaginable community where some could also have a subjective imagination as how HE will play a role in that inner illusion. I do not want to be ironic here, or use personal offence, its all about testing, landing feedback and I hope we will be able to have fun together at the release. But could you please tell us some existing scenarios, as you as a crafter how often were asked since Alpha 2 Steam release by other players to craft them items? How often you landed your treasure map to other players to let them dig it out? Probably you are playing with one main character, how the crafting skill lvl'up went since Steam release by the help of other player? Could you tell us, share with us EXACT in game daily scenarios that your one and only main character is relaying as a crafter by the help of the community? And if you have such stories to tell, can it be played out by everyone who is joining up at this state of the game? No matter if they have a premade large scale guild or if they are guild leaders or simple everyday MMO players who are jumping in into this MMO to having fun?

So what are your exact in game stories that makes the above shared opinion of yours as a facts and not daydreaming about your position and role in a never seen, but well imagined in-game community?

So there are facts, that could be broken and needs a fix. And there is "daydreaming" as how things could turn out in our imagination.

Also, there are several well implemented aspects of AoC that puts it to a MMO -sand - box: As competitive PvP in the first place. As the settlement system. I hope that AoC will focus on such contents to validate the MMO aspect and not generating restrictions that are forcing us to role-play someone's imagination as how he will build a simulator of his most sweet high school mmo nights that were coloured by time. We are looking for a competitive, sandbox MMO to having fun, having competition, relaxing, challenging each other and what not.

I'm also having the same issue! After hours of acquiring Mystic Lenses, my treasure map craft fails! (Although, Faded Riverlands Treasure Maps work, just not regular Faded).

Have you found a fix for this?

The recipe is the biggest bottleneck for me.
Despite a lot of the materials being novice level and only really needing novice level to craft the processed or raw mats to attain. It doesn't do a lot of good if i never have the recipe.
I agree in theory that the recipe and the monocles should be the bottleneck to craft this, but the near non-existent drop rate of the mystic lense recipe is impressive.

Feels worse than the Broodling doesn't it. But maybe that's just cos you have to wait for it to respawn.
