Okay this is like the 3rd time I've seen something similar posted. You do not need to use the slowest caravan. There are options for different caravans with a variation of speeds and storage. (View Post)1 -

Not only that it gives the defending raid more options to defend their loot if they can attack the empty caravan of the attacking raid. (View Post)3 -
