Constant Crashes

bigtoelarrybigtoelarry Member, Alpha Two
I believe I meet/exceed all technical requirements to play this game, but for some reason my game keeps crashing. Sometimes before I get into the game, sometimes 5 seconds after, sometimes 1 hour after I get into the game. I have a 4070Ti, Ryzen 9 processor, am I missing something as far as compatibility? Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you.

We are monitoring similar reports. It may not be related, but other players have told us that rolling back your nvidia drivers to 577 and/or turning off DLSS might resolve the issue.

I've done just about everything and all of the above. Updated bios/drivers/reinstalled/cried/downgraded to various versions/turned of DLSS. Still crashing. I guess now that I've done all that it's more of a complete freeze without a crash report from UE. The game just freezes and then I have to force close it.

I crash every 30 min to 1 hour, with this message, what can be done to fix?

I'm getting the same GPU crash. It only started after the most recent patch in the last day or two for me.

I have DLSS off. I acually installed the newest driver to try to fix the crash.

Puede que sea por exceso de consumo de RAM. Hacen falta más de 16 GB de RAM para este juego.

I've spent hours messing with settings and have not been able to resolve this crash issue.

I run a a i7-12700, Nvda 3080ti, 32 GB ram, 2 TB M.2, my PC isn't the best, but certainly meets the minimum requirements. The game will only run for 30 minutes to 1.25 hours until it crashes.
The worst part is there doesn't seem to be any real acknowledgment of the issue? Does anyone know if the problem has been acknowledged, and if there is a fix being worked on?

I really like the game, but it is getting hard to log in, knowing i'm going to crash get killed while crashing, and i'm going to lose some stuff that was hard to get...

I do not know if this will help out or not, but I haven't gotten the GPU Crash Posted above (UE error, etc) after I adjusted my BIOS. I had to set my XMP to Auto (was set to Enable) and I also removed the selected profile (I think I had XMP1). Computer is only a few months old.

I started having the same issue after a patch on or about the 4th. The game now drops frames constantly (very jerky) and I have the frequent crashes mentioned above.

    Running Win 11/AMD Ryzen 7900X with 64gb memory/GeForce 4070 Ti

I been having same issue since 8/30 myself. I run smooth mostly, but once it starts to drop frames crash is ioncoming.

    Ryzen 7950X3D
    64gb
    Nvidia 3080ti

Any updates? Many people I know are crashing 30 to 60 minutes into their gameplay consistently with this GPU crash. I am also getting out of memory errors on a RTX 4080 Super. No way this should be happening.
  • SamceliSamceli Member, Alpha Two
I have similar issue. It started around more than week ago.
Crashing to Desktop occasionally 30 to 60 minutes. However yesterday I was over 3 hours in Steelbloom and not single crash. But in Winstead like 30 to 60 minutes. Also noticed that crashes happened during zone changes occasionally.
I also changed my CPU, motherboard and memory during weekend but this same thing happened still.
Only thing that was not changed is GPU which is GeForce RTX 3060
    Driver version: 581.15 (latest)

I get about 90 minutes at best in low pop areas.
A support ticket resulted in updating basically every driver for my PC, which I already had done, and reluctantly updating my BIOS - still, no change.

Hopefully we get a fix soon.

same here 4080 super, 7800x3d, 64gb ram, running updated win10 on latest nvidia driver.

    random crashes 30min -1 hour.

gamesettings all maxed "cinematic" dlss on quality, tried both with raytracing on and off and i get the same issue, tried with no dlss and still the same issue. i did notice the game started using alot of ram. but still i have 64gb so i got plenty left.

Not experiencing this thankfully but have been a PC guy for a long time. If it were me, I would uninstall the game, wipe the folder on the SSD and reinstall the launcher to see if that fixes it. Personally running a 7900XTX and 7800X3d but I literally just installed the game clean today.

Might also be helpful to go into Windows Event Viewer (Type that in the search box) and look at custom views/administrative events/ There may be an error there that gives you a more specific reason for the crash. Admittedly, a lot of what is there in Event Viewer is junk (e.g. most of the "warning entries) but there may be something that points to the conflict, Focus on the "errors" starting at the top of events (most recent)

    Good luck!

the crash is a gpu hardcrash.theres something in the nvidia driver OR game. from what ive seen in the logs it seem to be related to shaders.

I also have had major issues this whole phase, and now after Nvida's latest driver, I cannot even launch the game. I sometimes get errors which I'm sending. I'm also running a 4070. I deemed it unplayable at this point and will try in a few weeks. Very discouraging
  • Miller5862Miller5862 Member, Alpha Two
im getting the same issue. to the point im like F this game for good. i have installed mdi to clock fan speed at certain gpu temps and removed the case but the temp never goes over 65 in fact ive seen it as low as 40 playing.. updated bios. updated chipset. tried running in dx11 you dont allow it. put all graphic settings to low the settings dont do shit anyhow... removed nvidia from helping your game look half decent. tried different windows modes. ive tried so much that i hate you. and whats worse is a few posts down someone legit told you you have a memory leak last month no reply to that but someone simply says they crash and you reply.. its not us.. its you. this game was not ready for player testing. and whats worse is it gets worth every patch.

I'm not interested in logging in until this constant crash issue is fixed, any updates?

DDU reset of drivers and 577.00 does NOT fix the issue with DLSS off. PLEASE fix this.
  • KorathalKorathal Member, Alpha Two
This is plaguing me also. The driver resets and full game reinstall did not fix this. I created a new character this morning and now it crashes within 10 seconds of entering the game. It's barely playable.

    I fixed this issue today.

I increased the default amount of shader cache to 100GB in the NV Control Panel.

I also capped the game at 60 fps in the NV control panel and disabled Anti Aliasing.

Lastly, i forced the GPU into high performance mode for Ashes.

The result of at least some of this, is that I am no longer rising above 12GB memory utilization and crashing after 30-60 minutes. As best as I can tell, something changed around Sept 1st that caused the game to crash.

I think the cause is related to Ashes trying to use more than the default 4GB Nvidia cache limit and VRAM was compensating.
