Re: No sharding?
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Unreal_Engine_5 Ashes of Creation features a custom Unreal Engine back-end with proprietary networking code to enable mass combat in the open world: such as PvP, Node sieges, Castle sieges, Dungeons and World bosses.[14] The networking solution dynamically distributes processes and scales up… -
Re: Will AoC graphics be able to handle the test of time?
To answer Jyunkix, yes they can. Unreal Engine 5 is made so that you can (at least in theory) migrate from Unreal Engine 4 without anything breaking. If they upgraded to UE5, that on it's own wouldn't change anything. Whether a game loses it's charm or not, depends on how they upgrade it. Personally I don't really… -

Re: Will you update Unreal Engine 4 to 5 ?
Hi caricas Intrepid are keeping an eye on Unreal Engine 5 and other such updates but for now they are staying as they are. Things might change in the future. I'm going to move this thread to the Support section and close it now, but if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out again. -

Ashes of Creation is using Lumen, which is the new "standard" lighting system in Unreal Engine 5 and uses ray tracing by… -
Re: The Star Citizen Effect
After 9 years of production time you would run into the issue of outdated technology being used. See the most recent installment of Duke Nukem. IN FACT, they are already exploring the use of a NEW technology (Unreal Engine 5) while all of their custom code-base is on Unreal Engine 4, deciding if it is feasible to swap… -
Re: Will players ever be able to build their own dungeons/buildings?
For anyone wanting, you can use a free-version of Unreal Engine 5; You only have to pay them if you're going commercial. There's "build-your-own stuff" for templates you can download, wherein you can be poking around the environment - they just won't be the exact world-assets AoC will feature. It's neat for a minute - but…
