Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
Blat's assumption here that the target will then "tap back in" and this will somehow be "abuse(?) of the system, and feels unnatural". So smth like "you're fighting a Bo7 in a fighting game. After your 2 wins, the opponent stops fighting, and killing him would not give a win. He just stands there doing nothing, even if you… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
Well that's cool. I wasn't aware of the mutual-flagging. I guess the only differences between my thinking and this system then is: 1) same thing just inverted. My system assumes war by default (then if anything you'd make peace treaties with the few friendly nodes) 2) incentivised opt-in on a per player basis. But… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
Which is exactly why the system is they way that it is. Your described situation will be so damn rare when compared to literally every other instance of pvp in the game that its importance pales in comparison to the importance of curbing malicious pvp attacks on green players. The example that I mentioned on the previous… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
well, I envy you, because when I've played games with no open world PVP (combat) I used to rage pretty often because of people farming where I am, etc. and that's back then when I used to play 10-15 hours a day...i rather finish something in 30 mins than in 1 or 2 hours, even if I play all day. I've always found that other… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
That's the choice that Person B gets: 1) Fight back, try to heal up and win the fight, but even if you do die you only drop half the resources. 2) Don't fight back, hoping that they want to avoid Corruption, but risking more of your resources being dropped on your death. If you're the Attacker and you want the kill without… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
Having experienced a very similar system in Lineage 2 Karma system, you will not be able to get the jump on people if you are not willing to PK. However what usually happened in my experienced is one player provokes and baits the enemy while the rest of his party hides with terrain advantage waiting for the enemy to return… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
Well this is kind've my point. That in wpvp getting the jump (an advantage) is fair. All I'm arguing here is that it has the potential to feel a bit janky. If person A opens up on person B (let's say they've been pvping each other all day, attempting to control resources or whatever).. then if A's opener is strong enough… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
A long timer is almost similar with having an option to chose if you want to be green or purple by default. That would reduce the risk aspect in the game. So I am against it if is long. If is just 4 minutes (instead of the 2 minutes when you just reply to an attack) then is acceptable for me. A better case to keep players… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean. I definitely remember instances of non-consensual PvP because I abhor non-consensual PvP. There have been plenty of consensual battles with OWPvPers that were OK. I mean... obviously... Because you enjoy L2 and Ashes is designed for gamers who enjoy L2. Attacks on Greens is not… -
Re: Corruption system and getting "the jump" in wpvp
What does mean "to get the jump"? I seen Steven describing the corruption as a bad thing but also as a thrilling experience in the context of bounty hunter trying to catch the corrupted player before that manages to clear the corruption. So for both red and BH, this can be a thrilling experience. Your system prevents that.…
