Let's talk lighting
Lighting plays a crucial role in the visual appeal of Ashes of Creation, aligning with the game's goal of achieving realistic and authentic graphics. The excitement peaked among players when Intrepid Studios transitioned the project to Unreal Engine 5 two years ago, promising cutting-edge technology for the game.… -
Hello Everyone
Greetings All Friends, More than 100 people have been working on this project for 8 years and have collected donations for children's hospitals several times if they are not mistaken. Let's come to the game, it is a mmorpg game we know but the best is they use unreal engine 5, we have no words for visual quality, the world… -
Re: Ashes of Creation Alpha Two lasting at least several Years ? 🤔
One needs to ask oneself what each Alpha and Beta is for? The first Alpha was about software and server stability. That is why it was centered around mass PVP fighting. From all account the First Alpha was a success. One of the primary reasons the second Alpha has taken so long was upgrading the game to Unreal Engine 5.… -
Re: [Feedback Request] Alpha Two Midnight Magic Preview Shown in April Livestream
I liked the direction given to the character, he seems human, I expect the same from the other races, that they have their own identity. As for the graphics of the desert biome, I rate it 4/10, since it gives the feeling that it is not yet finished and looks like the graphics of alpha 1, I think that this biome is still… -
Re: Suggestions from a MMO player with 20 Years of Exp
Exciting times, indeeeeeed! I'm hoping the 2.5 years Steven quoted as max will be enough time to get it done. There is a lot of work to do, so it does seem like a short time. 3.27 million dollars to spend on staff over 2.5 years though...that's about $109,000 they can spend on staff each month, using just the kickstarter… -
Re: Lack of focus in this livestream
I don’t know, I kind of enjoyed this stream. It was a little bit of a stray from previous streams that are more focused on one specific facet of the development - but intentionally so. We were able to see day night cycles, constellations, group combat dynamics, a bit of a class show case, a new area, and essentially got a… -
Re: Dev Discussion #41 - RNG
I'm late to this party, but it's an important topic and I've enjoyed thumbing through the thread. Might as well post. (1) I agree. RnG has no place in combat. (apologies to George_Black for so reducing his post) Block, Dodge, Parry, etc : given the current sophistication of CPUs, GPUs and broadband internet, and with the… -

Re: Flow of combat and Raids
Umm, no. Realistically speaking, Ashes started development mid-late 2018. When Intrepid had their kickstarter, the assets they showed off were mostly standard Unreal assets, with a few specific things thrown together added to it. The kickstarter was a way for Steven to gauge community interest in the idea, and the actual… -
Re: Apocalypse download freezes every minute
Took me about 2 1/2 hours to fully download, with lots of abuse. Mine would always freeze at ~36% and 67% almost every time. If I ever closed it (forcefully OR accidentally) during that time, when I restarted, it would give me an "unreal engine 4" failure and bug report screen every time. The only way I got past it was to…
