The way I see it is that all the other nodes are one particular deviation from the scientific one, which also has democratic elections. It is better to balance the incentives for Castle ownership first having only scientific nodes, see how the dynamic is and then decide how big the deviations are for the other 3 node types. -

Why would exclude them? Travel on the map is relatively fast on mounts. Players can also relocate during weekend to the other continent using family summons. I expect guilds from a metro nation to go and destroy the caravans of any other metro nations every weekend. If the local population is unhappy with their castle… -

The previous 3 weekends when players have to attack or defend the caravans going with taxes toward the castles should show who is interested to keep the current regime and who is against it. Those who defend them should not be able to participate in the attack. The count of destroyed caravans can be shown as a leader-board… -

I am not sure how in this case espionage and intrigue can play a role. But when a castle is contested by 3 parties (metro nations) it can happen that two of them which are on the attacking side will not be equal. The weaker one might realize that if they are not able to get the castle then they are better with the current… -

As I said, the number of destroyed caravans in the previous 3 weekends would promote guilds up on the attacker list. Also the game should measure the contribution of each player to caravan destruction. Sending healers or people who just take screenshots while random players, citizens not necessarily part of a guild destroy… -

If caravans which collect taxes are destroyed during the previous 3 weekends, owning the castle next month will be worthless, as no money goes to that guild anyway. So defenders will keep track during the caravan defense which guilds support them and select them to help defending the castle during siege. Who is on the… -

I think castles themselves are a bad design. I tossed them out years ago. Anyway, note that I like the chaos, it's just that chaos backed by fiat isn't real chaos, it's usually just a bunch of tryhards playing pretend.
