Re: My PvX != Your PvX
As someone that has been at the top myself in 2 MMO's, near the top in 3 others, and run with people at the top in another 3, I disagree with this premise. While it may (or may not) be true in L2, people do indeed move around games somewhat often. Many guilds operate in multiple games at the same time, often at the top of… -

Re: My PvX != Your PvX
You've described 3 separate games. In other words - WoW. Completely separate playstyles that lead to completely separate balancing designs and a gymnastics routine of economy designs, where none of those games clash (except afaik WoW failed at that multiple times). Ashes is simply not that kind of game. -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
I'm just sharing info. And then we see what actually happens. Again... it's not really about the typical player. The concern is primarily with a minority subset that has a significant negative impact. Again, keep in mind there is a reason that the Lineage II, ArcheAge and EvE devs have chosen to place a lesser focus on PvP… -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
There seems to perhaps be a disconnect here. An MMORPG's "story" and the "main quest line" are not inherently the same thing Yes, killing the Lich King was technically the end of that portion of the story (a story that started in Warcraft 3), but doing so was not a part of the main quest line. It was what I was talking… -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
Yeah the boss-fight in and of itself is fine with two competing raids. It's all the things around it I have an issue with. I agree with the multiple spawn points, having to regroup before going back unless you know the way is clear, still being flagged on the way back, the ability to push through choke points, etc. But… -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
I don't like a hard separation of player base in different zones. What I can see working is to have nodes favor these categories: For 1) divine nodes with more guards protecting only the divine citizens For 2) military nodes where they could get rewarded when attacking non-allied caravans For 3) economic nodes, where… -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
In deep ocean, if flagging would be enabled, a pirate ship which sees 3 far away ships around it, would have to approach one randomly. That might end up as a non-combatant ship and the pirate might never catch up with the other two. Having no flagging ensures that any choice can lead to battle. The problem I see with… -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
Then I'm glad that EQ2 managed to hold their audience as long as it did. Cause if there's no migration between games - they die, due to people leaving for non-changing-games reasons. This is also how we get people that only played 1 game their entire life (WoW being the biggest example because it was just the biggest… -
Re: My PvX != Your PvX
@Nerror Awe, thank you! And I do see your point. I tend to agree with @Endowed however that in my opinion, it seems PvP Heavy (see chart in post above). But that doesn't mean its not going to be fun. I think its going to be very different than what I am used to and I am pretty excited for that. Do I wish there were more…
