Are you for Ashes succeeding or failing. I ask this because by reading some of these threads makes me think you all want it to fail. Can you not see the negativity you are generating? Its understandable if you have questions. But to beat to death, over and over, on these forums, on reddit, on Reactions from content creators. Can you not see the negativity you are generating? Say your piece and move on, or am I to assume you guys want to tank Ashes. Lots of people still have hope, and I think you guys just want to ruin it for everyone because your feelings are out of control.
I appreciate your passion for Ashes and your concern about the atmosphere in the community. However, I'd like to offer a perspective that considers the role of criticism in the development and success of any project, especially something as complex as a video game.
1. Negativity vs. Apathy: It’s important to recognize that negativity, while sometimes uncomfortable, is often a sign of engagement. Constructive criticism highlights areas where improvements are needed and often comes with suggestions for how to address those issues. This type of feedback can guide developers to make changes that align the game more closely with community expectations, thereby increasing its chances of success.
3. The Role of Community Feedback: Communities are a vital part of the ecosystem for any online game, especially one as ambitious as Ashes. Developers often rely on community feedback to identify issues that they may not have anticipated or that require prioritization. The forums, Reddit discussions, and content creator reactions all provide valuable data points that can help the development team refine and improve the game.

What made you think these animes where worth considering?
I watched all of them. I liked some. I may want part of whatever they depicted into a game.
Still, an idea is worth nothing if you don't attach it to a meaningful system. A system based on solid fundations.
You can't just say "Look at this guy! He's all powerful and have fun! How cool is that?".
It doesn't mean anything, in term of game design.
These animes rely on bullshit.

@Sunboy I think that the game becoming a math problem is inevitable at the highest levels. I would argue that the game becoming a little bit more of a math problem allows people without python or coding experience to compete with these people more. When you click your character screen or hover over a spell there are already numbers attached. I am just saying give us a book in the bottom right that explains our stats even more in detail. Whether or not you use that is up to you and how competitive you want to be. The competitive people will just gap you that much more if they have this information and you don't. It feels like you guys are choosing to be blind because you think most everyone else is blind. However, if there is one thing I have discovered in MMO's it's that information is POWER. Releasing the information gives less power to the people who are capable of discovering and withholding it from the rest of us. In turn you choosing to be blind is just putting you at a disadvantage until someone decides to release the information and by then you are already disadvantaged.
And if there is one thing i have discovered, it is that choosing to be blind sometimes makes things more entertaining. One real life example is alcohol, you sure can't see the world as it is under the influence or perform as well. But it sure is hella fun (done right, dont drink kids)

I disagree with disabling cosmetics. It undermines the reason for the cash shop for one thing, and it prevents players from presenting their character how they like.
Some games I'm familiar with would lose players without being able to disable some of the immersion-breaking cosmetics (World of Warships for example) and others have decided cosmetics affect PVP negatively (Albion Online) but for a game like this I think it is important that players be able to make their player look how they like.

It really just ruins immersion running around questing low level zones and someone in the same gear looks like a fully kitted legendary end game character while I am wearing rags.
What if I said it ruins my immersion when players aren't allowed their full bandwidth of expression when creating their character ... regardless of what level they are?
The whole point of cosmetics is to be seen by other players.
Allowing the option to "turn off" your appearance devalues the in-game achievement (or cash shop purchase).
You kidding they not going to kill their cash cow!
Whatever term is given for the cash shop, I think most agree that it's not unique to Ashes of Creation. It's a trend amongst many MMOs that isn't going away anytime soon.
Fortunately, the devs have promised many in-game achievables that will be similar (or in some instances better) to what's in the cash shop.

Will dungeons have their own maps? And if so, will they have the same fog of war mechanic like the overworld or something else like discovering the map while exploring inside or purchasing the map from a vendor in a different location?
