Re: 📝 Dev Discussion #62 - Item Drops 💰
I dislike it when the mob drops something it had no reason to carry. Like a wolf dropping a dagger. Had they swallowed it? Or even worse, a wolf dropping a spear that could never even fit in them. And If a goblin drops a weapon, it should be the weapon it was fighting with.

So, having said that, what is the newest thing I should know about this game?
I know it's still in Alpha one, and Alpha two is coming, but that's about it.
So fill me in, ok please. Also, yes I will be reading the forums, but I will be coming back here for any help to get the info I am looking for.
Thx for you time guys. Been a tough two years.
Welcome back! Go read through the Memes Thread - should help to cheer you up.
Thx I will check it out over the weekend, after I clean up the garage a bit. Been putting that off for a couple months. lol

Re: Been gone 2 years, what have I missed?
Respect for wrestling with Life without breaking down apparently. 🫡Been gone 2 years, what have I missed ?
The monthly Presentations/Live-Streams of Ashes of Creation since August 2023 are absolutely delicious. Okay maybe before as well but i am to lazy to watch them, s~ooo ... ^.^ ... x'D
You made a good Call doing a Break of at least two Years. I bet most People should do that. As the waiting Time for this awesome Game seems to want to compete with things like Duke Nukem Forever, Star Citizen, or Yandere Simulator. x'D ( Please nobody stone me for mentioning those. Okay maybe a little.)
I haven't even seen all "Sets" (Clothing, Armor, etc.) that is in the Game in Development, but many of the Insights i had since August 2023 are absolutely amazing. Roleplayers will enjoy this Game. The different Seasons as well.
You can have nice, long Videos to watch in Case you are curious. And since Alpha Two is about Three Months or so away, it isn't also an Eternity away to see new Tests in Action.
I know what you mean. I wasn't planning on the break, but real life came a calling hardcore. Lost family and friends, been hard. Even lost my job I had for over 15 years due to cut backs. It was a sucky 2 years. But I am still here, and I am doing better.

Re: Been gone 2 years, what have I missed?
- the ocean size was increased and became a PvP zone
- number of nodes was reduced to 85. Each metropolis will have up to 12 vassals
- freeholds are limited in number and players can buy them from other players
- each 4 node types got a specific currency which cannot be traded to other players
- resources will be collected into bags of different shapes (you will not always be able to loot anything)
- certificates are called now glint and there is a corrupted version of it
- with glint you can buy commodities from NPCs and transport them with caravans to other nodes, to increase their price. Price gets higher also when origin node is destroyed
- max lvl crafting stations are: 1 in each lvl 5 node and 2 in each metropolis. So up to 15 on the map
- max level processing stations are only in freeholds

Re: What subclass builds would you like to see?
Summoner/Tank or Fighter/Tank or Bard/Tank (people do not seem hyped about tank secondary)
Summoner/Cleric (people want this class and it is rather valuable to see how cleric secondary works)
Tank/Mage (bruiser tanks could be underrated, understanding the value of damage secondaries would be valuable)
Bard/Rogue (what does this do)

Re: Thought experiment: What if they removed dropping things on death?
What do you mean by "stop dropping" exactly?
Not disappearing from the player's inventory. (as part of the death penalty)?
Or
Nothing to loot from the ash pile (you still lose them on death but it's completely lost no one can loot it ever)?

Re: Thought experiment: What if they removed dropping things on death?
Force them. EZDon't you think if players didn't drop a portion of their inventories gatherable mats that players would rely on caravans less often. WIth (IMO) caravans being an extremely important system to AOC.
![B) B)](https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
Make mats heavier, bigger in inventory, less stackable, whatever. Force people to use mules and caravans. And the tradeoff is you lose nothing on death.
We already have this in the game supposedly. Glint is supposed to be caravaned cause it's so heavy or smth. Big mats are the same. And the entire point of bags is to limit the amount a player can carry at the same time.
So, if anything, changing the game to no player loot would only make it better imo.

If you've read your corruption thread - you already know what my stance on this is ![:) :)](https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
As for Mag's point about corrupted players not dropping anything - they'd be the only ones TO drop stuff. That's their punishment. That's the L2 way which I believe is better than the current Ashes way.

Re: Thought experiment: What if they removed dropping things on death?
Transporting by caravans would be less likely - Transporting high level mats would always be done in player inventories. OWPVP would be more common over gathering locations but less common elsewhere. Overall the loss of resources dropping on death would be a negative change imo.

Thought experiment: What if they removed dropping things on death?
Just as a thought experiment, what if Intrepid decided to stop glint, gathered and processed goods from dropping on death? What cascading effects would it have? What would need to be changed at a minimum, to stop the whole system from falling apart?
