Re: Feedback from a player that's stuck at level 8
You don't need a group to level. Instead of standing there spamming for a group, go out and kill stuff. Go out and gather stuff. Go out and craft stuff. All classes can currently solo just fine and there are plenty of ways to gain xp. Hell, fish. And then when someone is looking for a group or your class... join. I see plenty of people asking for Church groups on Vyra in primtetime and on the weekend so doesn't seem a valid complaint. And get out of the starter area. There's plenty to do besides goblins!

Re: Why The Game Needs Fast Travel
And pretty much like L2, where you TP to the nearest TPable location, but then still gotta run for a while to get somewhere valuable.
This is the sort of fast travel Ashes should have. It is what EQ2 had, though due to the insanely large size of the world after 20 expansions, EQ2 does have far too many teleport locations now.
IMO fast travel locations in Ashes should be specifically removed from the node system. They locations should exist where they exist, end of story. If players build up a node close to such a location, that is on them.
With a total of 100 or so nodes in Ashes, I'd want to see about 12 - 15 teleport points around the world - but I would want them to function in a way where you need to travel to one of these teleport locations in order to teleport to another location (puts in a trade off of building up a node near one vs far away from one).
A lot of people think something like WoW or ESO when they hear fast travel, and are adamantly against it. However, you don't need that level of fast travel in order to actually fulfill the function that fast travel is supposed to fill. It doesn't need to take you directly to your content, it just needs to make that traveling time more manageable.

Re: is ranger really that bad?

So if a more complicated/convoluted/higher skill ceiling class doesn't sound like your cup of tea...then just run a mage. The mage will solo just fine, and tends to be the preferred DPS class in groups, should you choose to run them.
Ranger has no skill ceiling for the most part. There is only one real build as its useless to spec into multiple hunts, marks, or ammos as they can't be used at the same time as a different one. This leaves us with only half a dozen damage abilities as a dps class which feels horrible and gives no room for different builds.
Could you explain to me, your typical DPS rotation(s) based on the situation? Because I bet they'd take a little longer to explain than the mage's...
Barrage AA Barrage AA barrage AA Barrage AA throw in headshot after barrage (only when your Attack speed is above 110%) when mob below 50% hp along with mark of the raven.
Welcome to shortbow rangers where your most optimal DPS is basicly a single button

Yikes. Indeed. That seems daunting.

Re: Realms down ?
"The team is still investigating crashes and other issues with Alpha Two realms. Realms are down at this time.
While there's not a clear estimate for how long this will take, it seems like it will be at least two hours.
We'll keep everyone up-to-date here as there's more to share. We're grateful for everyone's patience today, as we work to resolve issues"

Re: Consensual PvP System in Ashes of Creation
Songcaller wrote: »There are video essays on the state of the genre. Specifically, how open world pvp is the most cherished form of pvp. Pvp on rails far less desired. Issue with open world pvp is that most players don't want to pvp at all. Thus, corruption system is still not going to snag said players. Ashes is a totally grey game with no black and white to stand out on. The nodes are not even free build like SWG.
Cherished for who though?
I read a comment today from a TL player who is upset and supposedly quitting because the Devs made a clamp-balance change before the expansion.
Their reasoning was quite literally: "I played and farmed 150 hours of this game over the last month or so to prepare for the expansion and now you're going to make it so that I don't get my full advantage" basically.
I feel like even most 60-90h a month players don't really 'cherish' the PvP against that type of person as much.
I couldn't decide if I found their "I played more hours of this game than my full time job, and now y'all aren't respecting my time" to be ironic or not.

Re: World Boss taunting invalidates tagging
No to all those. Attacking a world boss shouldn't flag you as combatant, taunting shouldn't flag you, nor should they be immune to taunt.
Risk the corruption to kill the world boss or wait for the others to kill it and kill them to get some loot. There'll be (or are already I think) world bosses in the PvP zones. Go kill those if you don't want to risk corruption.
You have a choice already, and the PvP aggressors in this game already have a massive advantage, no point in removing what little risks they have to take to PK.

Re: FEEDBACK: Making Guilds meaningful
Guild affiliation is non-existing in AoC, its just a tag over your head it means nothing and carries no weight.
Personally, I'd suggest not allowing people to server transfer that easily. The minute people were able to server transfer with a few clicks, personal and guild accountability went away. People didn't care about their reputation, and a lot more started acting like jerks. And why not? They could transfer with ease, sometimes for free, leaving their bad reputation behind and wreaking havoc some place else.
Guilds mattered a lot more when we were all playing together on the same server. Sure, you could always create a new toon on another server, but years ago, character leveling took a lot longer and gearing did as well. From what I gather, AOC wants to implement a "earn/deserve what you got" model, rather than get everything given to you after a few hours of gaming.
I think that if AOC is serious about limiting cheating, PTW, and valuating a player's effort in the game, being part of a guild will indeed mean something, hopefully.
