Re: Shields Block Chance is Fundamentally Breaking the Tank Archetype
It's a valid point, but I would like to see options to build a parry (with 2 handed weapons or otherwise) and evasion based tanks also.
Node Wars - Duration Timer Suggestion, In-Town Safe Zones, and PvP Level Difference Concerns
Greetings Devs and Fellow Adventurers of Verra,
I have been testing since the A2/Phase 2 keys unlocked on November 22. This is my first post and I have some feedback regarding Node Wars and concerns for PvP. I logged into Vyra tonight (3/10/25) and I'm a citizen of Winstead. My goal was to check my mail and browse the marketplace for a little bit after a long day before going to bed.
Winstead has been warring with multiple nodes all at once since Saturday (03/08/25) evening. I logged on today (03/10/25), and was actively using the mailbox. I noticed the war icon on my nameplate but didn't think about it because I was checking the mail. It was at about 11:30pm CDT.
Player Experience: I was then killed almost instantly by one player, in town, at the mailbox. I had to respawn because there was nothing I could do. I then ran back into town to collect my items and was instantly killed again by the warring node (2-3 players), at my corpse in town. I respawned again, tried running back to town, and another fellow citizen (20 Tank) was combating a 25 Fighter not far from the Emberspring. I'm a 19 Cleric with okay gear and figured we may have a chance, so I started to help. Then basically a full group from the warring node showed up and killed us again. I respawned, and they were then camping the Emberspring. I instantly logged out after voicing some frustrations in Citizen and Global chat. We have been warring with 4 nodes for 2 straight days. This was an unpleasent experience that made me not want to play.
Feedback: This may already be intended. Please add Node War duration timers and after the designated time (1-5 hours? Scrolls could determine duration - just an example/idea) the node with the highest kill count wins.
Feedback: The other aspect was getting killed in town. This just doesn't feel right. A town should be a safe place for your own Citizens. The guards did nothing. I don't know if this was a bug where they were not attacking, or I died so quickly that they couldn't respond. I was trapped in a death loop that was not fun. The thought of killing people who are not wanting to engage in PvP feels wrong. I tried to defend myself, but had no chance. They were clearly max level and had good gear, taking the easiest kills in town, cowardly strategy in my opinion, with no sportsmanship. I get it, you're max level and bored, so you go into the warring node to push your node toward victory by taking advantage of it being later in the evening with no safe zone to get easy kills from unexpecting players.
Player Experience: I don't know how you combat griefing, or people thinking this is a good strategy. It's annoying and extremely frustrating. I am absolutley loving this game, it reminds me of Dark Age of Camelot in many ways. However, this instance made me want to instantly log out of the game. I was not in the mood to be forced into PvP, in my own town, getting killed by players 6 levels higher than me with good gear. It was a shitty experience and it felt like it could turn into griefing quickly.
Player Experience: The other aspect was that these warring advasaries where level 25 and I was level 19. I have a hard time when max level characters can kill lower level characters so easily and quickly because of the level gap and gear differences. Especially when it's in an area that should be safe, your own town. The fact that they could just be in our town freely while at war doesn't make sense.
Feedback: I think there should be level caps for combatting with lower level characters. Such as 1-5, 6-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25. At the current testing level cap, level 25s can only kill other level 25s. You can only be "flagged" against/within these level ranges to engage with a warring nodes citizens. And the only way to attack a lower level character, is if the lower level character engages first.
I very much understand this is still in Alpha and there are many outstanding systems. I believe these things would make for a better overall player experience. I think these would be good priorities to the node warring sytems, and to PvP in general.
I hope this format helps you understand my player experience during this node war, as well as potential suggestions to use for iterating solutions to these PvP concerns. I very much appreciate you listening to your playerbase and taking constructive feedback as you develop the game.
I'm throughly enjoying my testing experience and have been actively reporting bugs and I want to see this game succeed.
Keep up the great work, I look forward to every update!

Voting and Node Control
Given that Phase 3 is rapidly approaching, a few issues may come to a head. With major guilds looking at swapping to fresh start servers, what is to stop them from retaining power and node control on their previous server with the number of alts that they can mobilize to vote? Should this control be maintained, it is highly unlikely that the mayorships would be active in node growth and promoting the server health. In my opinion, this is an issue that needs to be dealt with and can be done in several ways. 1.) Making citizenship account bound (at least per server) and ensuring that only 1 vote can be done by all characters on that server. 2.) Creating a mechanic to force elections should the mayor not be logged on or active for so many days or votes of no confidence (this at least makes people log in and interact with at least the voting system much more and may get annoying). Im sure there are other ways or methods to achieve this and should be possible once alternative ways to become mayor are implemented.
Re: Race specific starting zones
Freedom to choose geography is more important than race specific starting zones to me.
Some stories can't be told if you can't easily have Elves that choose to live with Orcs.
As for the other parts, that's just a matter of players generally not being interesting.

Gathering
I am one that loves to gather. I'm grateful there will no longer be stagnate mineral or herbs, hopefully that is implemented if not all ready, very soon. Players that camp nodes not only stop playing the game, but it also completely takes the excitement of what you might get on your gathering out the door. I'm not interested either at all in surveying pilons, this will only change the story but be the same problem of node & herb campers. The only thing this will do is shove everyone in the same direction. Sometimes, you just want to gather mostly in peace after a hard day's work. There is more than enough pvp opportunities, that leaving gathering out of it for the most part is ideal. Also, the gathering is just great by simply being able to push f to mine and pick up. There already is a skill process in place by the novice, apprentice, journeyman, etc. skill tree. Nothing else is needed for that part. Not everything in this game, needs to be complicated. There is enough requirements needed to upgrade tools. Plus, I'd like to see cool down periods for wars, etc, constantly seeing that across screen is annoying. I'm glad people are participating in the conflict you established, just please leave it out of gathering. I know not everyone is going to agree, but I hope most of us will when it comes to gathering, this will force people to travel the game like some of the intentions. recap: I do not want to know when or not when a legendary is going to pop up. I do not want a counter telling me when it is coming up, I do not want a timer. The only thing the pilons should say if you move forward with this, is the probability of finding the materials, in a direction, in a vicinity, and have a long cool down-like 12hrs, nothing about specifics, it completely takes the excitement of what I'm going find out of the game; but for me I absolutely, unequivocally do not want the pilons either. Plus, get rid of the visual indicators of node rarity. For example, the difference in tree shape, flower color or ruby color to indicated rarity. This will actually help achieve more player interaction like you want, because people will be gathering everything to find these items, but the killing pvp moments, we have more than enough opportunity for that all ready, and to repeat. I just want to gather in peace. The only threat I should have is; I'm gathering by myself and transporting goods by myself. Thank you.

Re: In-game Chat Filter (+18 Age)
Bumping this.
Not being able to say things like simple (simpsons, simpleton, ...), scrape, circumstance, and whatever else is added is just putting up arbitrary roadbloacks to the communication of the game.
Either allow us to disable filters, or do not use them. Having it forced down our throats feels awful.
Worst case scenario is that everyone learns what you cannot write, and swap out a letter to say it anyway - which adds a mental load no one feels good about.
Please reconsider the current stance.

Castigation The Whip
I want the whip back, it had one of the best sounds and animations. We should have more offensive abilites that also function as defensive healing abilities.

also I was told to come here and ask for my whip back. I need my ability to whip my friends and enemies into shape.

Re: Character Creator Phase III
Haha, I support this idea.
By the way, I don’t understand why Asian studios always make sure their character creation is excellent. Meanwhile, here in the West, studios always leave that part for later, even though it's the first impression we get of the game. Before even entering the world, it’s the connection with the game’s universe, and it’s either neglected or rushed. What a shame.
Also, I remember a video where they said this character creator would be as good as, if not better than, BDO... We're far from that.

The logic behind Tank’s name
Please help me understand why the tanking class is named tank? I don’t have a problem with the name per say but it’s irregular. I mean in the same logic cleric should be named healer ranger:physical ranged dps mage:ranged magical dps etc. why a role’s name is also the class name?what happens if they add a second tank class in the future? It will be named tank2?
