Re: Ashes of Creation must dodge this bullet
LMAOAhaha it's funny how you immediately got mad at me, even though it wasn't me who wrote it, it was @Noaani
I did not get mad at all.
I just expressed my shock at those outrageous numbers.
You answered my question perfectly. You got those absurd numbers from Noaani.
I don't think I attack everything you say. It's funny how you are ready to attack literally anything I say, just because I said it or you think I said it.
I disagree with many of the opinions you promote on this specific topic.
African Americans code switch. Yes.Didn't want to mention it, but I find it extremely weird that on discord you talk like a normal person, but on forum you are much more emotional and aggressive. Such a strange transformation, feels like I'm talking to two completely different people[/b]
And it is not unusual for people outside of African American culture to play the "Angry Black Man" card...
I'm not any more emotional or aggressive here than I am on The Ashen Forge.
Just, there, you can see and hear my actual emotions, rather than (mis)interpreting what I've written.
Disagreement is OK in a discussion. Nothing for me to be emotional or aggressive about.

Re: Ashes of Creation must dodge this bullet
I dunno why anyone would be trying to use reddit as a reliable source of anything related to games - other than toxic trolling.I meant no offence to anyone, I stated a fact. The average forum user has deeper knowledge about the game than the average subreddit follower. This applies to me, you, @Noaani @Dygz @Azherae @NiKr and many others. I hope you won't use exceptions as counterpoints, as exceptions do not disprove the rule. If you can operate with variables like "X", "N" without the necessity of them being the exact numbers (and I assume you can), you would understand perfectly what I'm trying to say.
I don't know what you mean by "voting". Also, "garbage in; garbage out". Especially when in regard to polls. Now apply that fact to people voting. How do you think, out of all 100% of voters, how many people have a stereotypical beliefs, such as "All the fun begins at level cap", "Long leveling is bad for casual players" etc? I'll give you a hint - that's not 0%.
Depends on what is meant by "long leveling". And opinions about that are going to be for games that do not have the Ashes design - which has a bunch of features that specifically addresses racing to Endgame.
Also, again --- these days, game devs are also able to combat that with Seasonal Updates.
I play 8 hours per day and I can't play all the games I want to play...
I haven't finished the latest NMS update because I wanted to play through the new Marvel Season for Fortnite so a I can get a bunch of Marvel Lego Fortnite Skins and Backgrounds.
Two days after I got all the stuff I wanted there, WoW had a new Expansion (I haven't had time to play WoW since Nov 2023). I installed that but...
Nightingale also had a major new update I'm excited to explore. I played maybe 16 hours of Nightingale: Realms Rebuilt.
And then LEGO Fortnite released a MAJOR new update - new zones and new Tilesets. I'm currently 2/3 through the Tropical Treasures BP that dropped 9/16. Hopefully, once I complete that, I can hop back into Nightingale and then explore the new stuff in WoW. I dunno when I will make it back to WoW. And I also want to check out the new NW at some point - after it releases in Oct.
These days... Endgame isn't really much of a concern at all. New content and new stuff to do drops every 3-4 months - even in MMOS and RPGs that are not Ashes.
Sure. Time to Max Level doesn't necessarily matter in an RPG. But that doesn't mean that Leveling to max Class Level should be arbitrarily slow - because that really means that the acquisition of new abilities and skills is arbitrarily slow... which is not a good thing for an RPG.

Re: Please avoid Monetization at all costs and watch dup bugs/money bugs.
I think what is being missed here is the cosmetic shop is more than just making cash for intrepid someone has to be paid to make these cosmetics which cost the company money! By having a cosmetic shop we generate income so they can create items for the game not just for the item shop.
So the next time you see some weirdo riding around on a my little pony unicorn with a rainbow mane and tail who paid 50 USD for it don't shun them, stop and thank them because they are doing more to help the progress of the game then you probably are! As far as immersion goes if you don't like his pony you can kill him and it but make sure you still express your gratitude you don't want to look like you are rude.
If they crank out a sparkling rainbow-farting unicorn then that's a sign all care for immersion is gone and they're dying for any scraps of cash
What about a albino unicorn that lost his horn for bad behavior?

As long as it's not sparkling and farting rainbow

Re: Ranged Mobs: Impossible to Counter if you are in their attack range
Active defense +stat(armor/magic resist) defense through gear and passives is plainly a much better system than accepting characters as stat-sticks for combat.
I mean, "stat sticks" has worked for decades.
If Intrepid went for what you are saying, they can't really claim that people can opt for primarily action or primarily tab combat - people only have that option with offense.
Also, keep in mind, Steven has always said that if hybrid doesn't work, tab is the default.
They 'worked' when that was the only option, but it's an outdated system that isn't particularly engaging and it severely lacks in skill expression.
And you can easily create systems that have both active dodging and stat based defense. The presence of actively dodging some damage doesn't detract from methods of mitigating damage that does hit, which is all that armor should be for anyway.
The fact that 'evasion' could be a stat on armor that triggers even if you literally never move is absurd.

Re: Mud Shield
That’s a creative idea! The "Mud Shield" concept you mentioned could add an interesting layer to defensive gameplay in Ashes of Creation. The idea of combining a traditional shield with an environmental effect like mud to debuff opponents is both unique and thematic, especially in a game world with rich environmental interactions.
Implementing something like a "slow" debuff upon contact would not only make blocking more dynamic but also offer strategic advantages in both PvP and PvE scenarios. Imagine a tank using this shield to disrupt enemy movements or control the battlefield more effectively. Plus, it ties nicely into the idea of incorporating environmental elements into combat, which could be a great way to expand on the game’s immersion and tactical depth.
It would be fascinating to see how something like this could be balanced and integrated into the existing class and combat systems of AoC. Perhaps different types of shields could have unique debuffs, adding another layer of strategy when choosing gear.

Re: Mud Shield
As an item this is bad, as an augment it is fine. I see it fitting best with Ranger, Tank and Mage, any of their combinations.
