Re: AoC isn’t Punishing its Frustrating
Yeah, that's what I figured, and I don't disagree with you, but that's the core 'problem'.
The combination of snowballing, 'griefing', and item drops, is what makes this untenable for people.
Because if griefing doesn't let you snowball to victory, you can 'change your fun to making your enemy waste time'. And if you don't drop items on death, then the definition of 'griefing' is greatly reduced and much clearer in many situations (obv not all, tactically speaking you could make some arguments for spawn camping either way).
And without meaningful snowballing, then the 'get a guild or friends' becomes easier because the sort of person like you who would probably pull together all the randoms and smaller groups, wouldn't be stuck in the situation of knowing that 'while you are doing that, your enemy is outpacing you and crushing morale'.
There will always be people who have the extreme, borderline ridiculous view, that even in this hypothetical event, they shouldn't be targets of PvP, even though the only remaining challenge in such an event would be 'run to egg spot, get egg'.
Those people just get lumped in with the people who are thinking 'well I can't win at PvP in this situation and I can't outsmart an opponent who isn't even playing with the same intent/rules'.
Those people 'don't bother' with PvP games because the games don't work hard enough at giving them anything to actually do. The devs of those games (especially early in development) are often content to just leave things to the PvP purists, especially since those people are super whiny if you 'force them to play by the same rules as anyone who doesn't want to engage them in PvP'.
The sort of people who whine 'you couldn't beat us so you just brought more people' and the sort of people who whine 'I can't force this person to PvP me and I get punished for killing them anyway' have a lot of overlap.
Anyways I brought all that up to remind everyone that Caravan Content is terrible.

Re: Toolmaking as a Profession
Please reconsider the oversimplification of things down to 'Weaponsmithing' and 'Armorsmithing' and spread things out, so that it's more fun and less obvious meta.

I do find the notion of someone that can't deal with a mob training calling someone else this.
It is literally what we used to call people thst couldn't deal with mob trains like these.
So, you're a WoW noob.
This coming from a guy who thinks a mob trainer is a "Stronger Player" and that you should be at the mercy of them. Good logic, you must use it irl

Back to the topic at hand, this is obviously just poor gameplay to go against, Train mobs, bait corruption, die and run back. Repeat. You can make other players go corrupted to lose items on their character and give them blight. (receive a permanent debuff) which makes people even if they die corrupted, res at the emberspring corrupted losing up to 6 items on their character.
While all you have to do it farm 1 hour of mobs at most to get rid of xp dampening at 25 with no permanent damage to your character.
Re: Right now, end game has so much griefing it's almost impossible to enjoy end game pve content
I think Intrepid should step in and define what actually constitutes "griefing" and frame it in their TOS so we can put all of these issues/posts to rest. That way the players can just look at the rules to see if something is actually griefing and if it is, they can submit a report - or if it is not, then we can just ignore/delete the post.
I think it would help prevent quite a bit of drama.

Re: Ok, I Think I'm done.
Its been pvp since the jump.
Maybe it has been since jump. I just don't remember this it was 7 or 8 years ago and I've had a few kids since then.(dont have kids in your late 40's it'll rot your brain} I just remember when I i gave to kickstarter them talking about a return to a more classic mmo experience. Since they kept talking about everquest roots I thought they ment that and not Ultima online (which I also hated)
I check and they're no mention of pvp game in the kickstarter. I back for 125$ too in the kickstarter and i'm not a pvp player ^^
In the current version pvp have to much impact in the game for me too

Re: Ok, I Think I'm done.
Hopefully its just an alpha issue and crafting will get sorted.. the items should be pretty basic to craft..
I spend the weekend trying to make some fish salad things.. and honestly I think it took over 20 different types of resources over different professions just to make a single fish salad..
That was for the only fish food that I could make.. sure there is a basic non fish salad but looking at the costs of the parts you are better off just buying the food from the vendor..
Anyway the starter crafting items should be easy to make so people can get into it and not get totally put off by a process that take half a day to make the most basic of items.

I agree, combat system and overall idea of nodes and caravans is top tier, but this game is so raw and unfinished that I think phase 2 won't change anything. I hope they will manage to fix all stability issues and expand content until phase 3.
