Types of players in AoC
I'm curious to see what kind of groups/guilds will form once several nodes begin to have political conflict. I assume there will be mercernary contrabands that will aid any node willing to pay its price and in return supply numbers and military power.
Do you think there will also be outlaws, such as players who group together in the far corners of a node and will attack caravans and other players, maybe even start there own corrupt metropolis?
Discuss!

I think that this game will attract a lot of disapointed ArcheAge and BlackDesert players. We may see those big PVP oriented guild reforming and trying to be very competitive to dominate the server, or to create a dynamic-active and very battle oriented server.
I guess that this game will also appeal to more "peaceful" players that strive to explor and adventure. Very little game offer that sort of content at the moment. If Ashes of Creation manage to offer for non PVP/competitive players the space and world to enjoy thegame on a more relaxed pace, it will attract a lot of players, like me, who strive for a gorgeous world to explore and adventure within.
I'm pretty much confident that what will matter most is how the community organise themselves into server. We can expect to see the major PVP oriented guild to gather and organise themselves to populate a server that will offer a lot of warfare activity. And hopefully, the community that would rather experience the game at a more relaxed/kind/friendly pace will be able to populate a server themselves.
Military will have the PvE and PvP (most probably).
Economic, all those players who want to become as rich as possible (those who would stand the entire day in the grand exchange in Runescape, flipping).
Scientific would be full of artisans I presume, At least I would imagine that artisans would generally prefer economic or scientific nodes.
Which leaves the divine node. What kind of players would you find here? I think mainly the questers, the explorers and those who wish to help other players.
I think this is a very smart idea as it will allow for most of the player types to do what they love and get somewhere into the game. However, this also comes with downsides. Depending on the attitude of militaristic nodes and the strength they possess, they can take over the server for example.
Judging by what I have seen so far, there has been a lot of interest in combat. Hence I also presume that especially in the beginning most higher level nodes will be militaristic nodes. I presume that multiple PvE and PvP guilds come together towards a node. Once there are several higher level nodes in military (level 3 and 4). From here I can imagine two scenarios:
Scenario 1: The Militaristic Nodes Take Over
If there are enough military nodes, they might decide to band up and prevent the creation of scientific and economic metropolises. Why would they do this? To get a monopoly on the markets. Imagine this scenario, all the higher level nodes are military nodes. Since there is no economic node, there is no global market, rather only local ones. Which means that people have to cross the entire world in order to get certain items. And in different areas, price levels will differ. Meaning they can easily buy low and sell high. And likewise, since there are no scientific nodes, there is barely any fast travel. The open lands immediately become more dangerous, and the guilds that control the highest level military nodes will reign supreme. They could make it near impossible for none guild members to travel the land safely (depending on how PvP will work). I think something similar happened on ArcheAge. Pirates literally imposed import taxes, and if you didn't pay you'd get killed.
Hence, it is important that all the people who prefer either the economic or scientific nodes come together quickly and get a node going and level it up as fast as they can in order to prevent that from happening.
Scenario 2: Militaristic Nodes want more expansion
That is of course under the presumption that those in Military nodes want to create a monopoly on the world markets. For all we know, they'd want to create a Scientific and Economic node, in order to push their own desires forwards. Maybe they don't like travelling? Maybe they want to sell their loot on a global market instead of travelling across the land searching far and wide? We'll have to see how that plays out. We also know that certain creatures only come out under certain circumstances, with certain nodes at a certain level. They might be encouraged to let other nodes develop to see how it changes the world.
I honestly believe that the divine nodes will be the least prevalant throughout the game, however, I hope to be proven wrong! What do you all think of the above scenarios? Possible? Not possible?
Also Lorefell if you think crafters are gonna go for merchant node and pvpers for military node etc think again. Casuall players will probably go nearest node of start, and hc players no matter if they are pvp or pve oriented will go for the node that gives them objectively best benefits regardless if it is consistent with rp mindset of pvp players in military node.
One thing is clear from this topic, that there will be alot rpers. Clearly the game concept sounds appealing to rpers i get it, it sounds appealing to me as a pvp player as well. The thought of destroying a metropolis and getting all rival guilds and rpers come cry at forums sounds delicious. Thats if they are able to make a good combat system and have good complicated skillful pvp, otherwise ill be out after beta.

Yeah, but I guarantee that none of the guilds currently listed on this website will survive until the game launches. Making guilds at this point is just jumping on the hype train in my opinion.

Even if casual players go to the nearest node to start, I don't think they'll stay there long. I would presume they would more likely go to one of the biggest nodes, which to me still likely seems to me the military node. Another problem for predicting this is that we don't know the benefits for a military or divine node; for all we know XP could be involved. If that is the case, a node providing extra XP in a certain area is more likely to attract people who aren't max level yet. Also when you say HC players will go to the objectively best. Is that taking into consideration leaving their current position of power and wealth behind? If they bought a house in a level 3 village, they'll want to make it a metropolis, get a chance of being a higher up as well. They'll be known in that city, which is something they are not likely to just ditch.
I usualy just scavange around the wastelands by myself, always stayin neutral and just minding my own business.
Farmin some stuff, killin some outlaws that get into my way and never really gettin into the "guild/team" kind of thing.
For some reason i just never seem to fit into any company.
Some are too weak and holding me back.
Some are too arogant and i just leave em.
Some are inactive and some are simply too boring.
So the "forever-alone" playstyle is always the one i prefer goin for.
Hopefuly this adorable, yet unknown place will bring some nice change into my life.
