Skills and Skill alterations, how will they work?

So I don't know if the devs or Steven has touched on this subject but how will the skill lvl'ing system work? Will we have a large pool of skills to choose from for each class and then choose alterations on them when your subclass or second class comes into play. Will there be pre-made alteration skills. Will the different skills allow players to create different playstyles from the same class/class variation.?

I think the skill system will be one of the more important things for me since I always enjoy the freedom of making my own playstyle, and with the introduction of skill alterations I do hope there won't be just "Spellblade skills" when you choose to play as a mage/fighter but instead you can make your own alterations to fit your playstyle.

Also how will the different skills work with different weapons? Since (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe the devs did say that any class will be able to use any weapon and armor they want to, just that they might not be as proficient with it.

Of course one of the other problems with this will be, how will the dev team keep track of all the difference skills and how will they tackle balancing. Even with 64 different class variations there will be a set number of skills for each variation and if there is at least 10 different skills for each class that makes 640 skills to balance and I do wonder how the devs will tackle this challenge.

  • The devs haven't released any kind of "talent tree" nor have they told us how you will choose which skills you can augment with your secondary class (if you can even choose which skills to augment!)
  • I dont know where i saw it but.

    Someone explained it like this.

If you are a fighter that does a charge and then damage. If you choose wizard as the secondary class you can get thier teleport ability combined with your charge.

For example it would be a teleport to the enemy and than releases its damage. I think it will be stuff like this.

That is the example Steven gave us on how the skill augmentation works, but what we'd like to know is can you choose which skills to augment or are the augments set in stone once you choose a secondary class? Can you choose from multiple augments for the same skill? So for example instead of adding a teleportation to the charge ability, you can choose to keep it as a charge but the path you charge in leaves behind a trail of fire that burns any enemies that step in it.
