Mayor

I've posted this on discord a few times but never had an answer so I thought I'd try here.
As this will be my first mmo with a serious political system, I'm having trouble getting my head round how it all works. If someone wants to run for mayor, how exactly is that done, is it by some in game voting system or is it done with some other mechanic. Wouldn't the only people with any chance of success be in the largest guilds, as they would realistically be the only ones with enough potential votes. The only reason this interests me, is because of the node video and the fact it mentioned city leaders having some control over the amount of housing it will implement (apologies if I picked up wrong on this ) If this is the case couldn't it possibly be abused by the mayor if he or she wished.
Hope that all made sense :)

  • Welp bud it all comes down to what type of node your at, like you said for a certain type of node you have have tonget voted in by the nodes citizens and that would be the research node and yes if the guild is the majority of the population it could help with the votes but in other nodes the leader is chosen differently like the militaristic node will choose a leader based on whos the strongest citizen of that node, the economic node leader is choosen by who is the richest, and the divinity node leader is choosen but whos done enough quest devoting enough faith to the mighty being of their node. I hope i answer your question bud.

well, boy it works with elections only in a scientific node. militaristic has the toughest mayor, economic has the guy with the heaviest IG wallet, and divine has the best quest completer
so yes, large guilds do have an advantage, but also internal feuds can arise within the guild on the correct mayor, and if you selected a jerk, troll or whatever, kick him/her out in the next election.
it is partially true. you can build apartments to accommodate more people, they'll be less customisable, but the amount of static housing( as in the ones you purchase) doesn't change, apparently.
