Benefits of choosing same Secondary and Primary class (speculation)

Anytime I play an MMORPG I want to be a bard. The opportunity to do so has not come up very often. I'm ecstatic that this game has them.

On that note I'm wondering what Dual speccing into bard will get me. I will be doing this. Here we have an excerpt from Steven talking about secondary classes -

"That secondary class will augment your primary class’ abilities and skills. In total, our class system will have 64 distinct classes, of which there will be a wide variety of customization in skills and abilities based on the player’s choices.” -Steven

As a Bard/Bard I could possibly get songs that a Bard/anyotherclass wont get. Or modifications to songs that primary bard only or secondary bard only can't use.

I am hoping to start a discussion, any other people really into a specific class and wanting to take it as their Primary and Secondary? What kind of boons do you think we will get from that?

  • There's more in-depth quotes about how the augment system will work and i don't want to tell you stuff you probably already know, but my best guess would be that the bard is going to have set skills. So if you are a bard/bard you are going to have the same skills as Bard/any other class. Now modifications, or augmentations as they call them, will make things interesting. X class/Bard won't get songs persay, but (this is my own creation) say a tank/bard. He won't have Bard songs, but if he has a Shout/Cry to buff people like WoW warriors do, then i think the bard effect will make it stronger, or more widespread, or even add another special effect, but it will still retain the primary aspect.

Personally, i want to play rogue/cleric or summoner/X or X/summoner. I want to see what crazy ideas they would have for rogue/cleric
  • I wouldn't mind a link to the more in depth information about skill augmentation.

I like the way you think Bornforexile! So a Bard/Bard could just be increased range for your buffs, stronger utility and such. As would be the case with most same dual class. Mage/Mage might get the ability to shroud more than one person wither their mana shield or something.

I know this is very premature, but this concept really speaks to my D&D background.

Summoner is a class I'm curious about, they have been done in many iterations in MMOs. I'm just curious as to how they will be executed in this game.
