Guild System Mechanic Idea. Ranking?

Hello everyone, this is a post for a guild mechanic i thought of that i feel will really blend with this game.

We all know the standard guild rank system that a GM can create then distribute those he feels are contributing the most to the guild and are the most loyal.

However a Guild Master and Council members are not always on, and people wonder what can they do for their guild.

What if there was a system to help players level in the guild and give them tasks to strive for. For example a Daily or Weekly Quest System that a Guild Leader could customize. After Completing the task or goal. The player or players are awarded XP towards their rank. Some quests might be a first come first serve. Others might be a larger goal that only many guild members can complete and XP percentages are distributed by how much players contributed towards the task.

Example:
Daily Tasks:
* Donate 200 iron ore to guild bank
* Protect A Node Trade Run for your Node.
* Recruit 2 members

Weekly Tasks:
*Kill 50 Enemy Guild/Node Members
*Donate $100,000 to guild bank for Castle Upgrades
*Reach 200 members

Thoughts on this idea? I haven't seen this in any MMORPG I've played but might be others out there, if there was, was it any good?

  • I like the way you want to import a rank system into it but i don't like the way on how tasks should be done.

    Instead i think it would be better to make a sort of upkeep system for the guild's citadel. Every week there should be a cap that has to be reached or else the guild can't upgrade and even deteriorate. Each guild member gets their own fixed personal cap. For example: The guild members have to mine stone and ore to upgrade the guild protection walls. The guild members can retrieve the needed resources in the guild's own mine. All the resources collected go straigth to the guild. Ones the guild members reach their cap, their services have been proven to the guild and there for get guild reputation that can earn them higher ranks. If a member fails to do so, they can't get any reputation and even lose their previously acquired rank. If the total amount of resources is acquired, the guild can expand their citadel and unlock more resources.
