First look at Flying Mount?
I couldn't help but notice that the "Dawnbreaker Epic mount" appears to have wings. I know that it was said flying mounts would be rare. Is this the first one to be announced/available?

Q Steven you said that dragons will be the only mounts that can truly fly, but is there a possibility for bird Type mounts? That can fly for say a minus or so? Cause one specific mount in the silhouettes really peaks my interest but it appears to be a giant Bat Thing
A True flight is restricted to dragons for mayors and kings. Other mounts will have wings and hover close to the ground
A Winged mounts will fly of course. But will only fly slightly above the ground
Q Do those mounts that fly just above ground have increased speed?
Varying degrees of mounts will have different speeds.

Cool. Great info.

Agreed. When EQ2 (which already had a way-too-easy travel system with the mariner bells and such) implemented flying mounts it just kind of changed everything. You never had to be in danger of anything anymore. Just fly to where you're going and land.
That said in a game that has caravans and pvp etc. would make attacking people far to easy to have everyone having flying mounts.
Does the Dawnbreaker fly?
Flying mounts in Ashes of Creation will be earned by those players who become kings or queens of castles and leaders of Metropolises. Only the most noble of creatures can truly take to the air in sustained flight, however the Dawnbreaker is known to glide gracefully for long periods of time.
Really looking forward to that haha. ^~^

So mounts are planned to have racials too? That might devalue certain Kickstarter mounts, but it could be a cool feature if things are balanced out right. If the Dawnbreaker can glide then the horses are probably the balanced mounts.
flying mounts just encourage people to not explore the land or see anything and its a smart decision to get rid of them.
DAoC used to have riding systems that you could jump off at any point as well during the trip from city to city. would love that to be back in game so if you see something that you want to do you can just jump off instead of having to go back from wherever the horse ends its route.
