Hyped for the game / Disappointed By Kick Starter Rewards
Hello!
Like many of you I've been playing MMO's for a longtime now and like Steve mentioned in his QA I've been playing with the same group of people during that time. We've played or private tested games like WoW, Rift, SWTOR, Wildstar, Guild Wars 2, Tera, and Black Desert Online just to name a few and more than likely we'll be playing Ashes of Creation too!
Enough about me and my group!
The reason I felt so inclined to register and post today is I wanted to strike up a conversation with the community (hopefully the dev teams as well) about the Kick Starter Rewards. Specifically the Early Access 2 Day Head Start.
Most MMOs I've played or backed up to this point usually include the Head Start Access in the "deluxe or collectors edition" that usually falls within the $100 or $150 range with $200-$250 being on the high side. To see Intrepid Studios ask for a minimum of $445 for a 2 day Head Start feels like nothing more than a cash grab.
Sure the pets, mounts, titles, costumes and free month of sub (s) are great but the only thing that truly has any in-game substance is the Head Start.
With the average MMO player being 26 years of age you're basically asking players to pay the equivalent of 1 months car payment on a new car (National American average is $479 a month) to play 2 days earlier.
It's been a hot topic in my groups discord ever since the Kickstarter went up so I'm curious what the rest of the community has to say about it.
