So from the comments about Economy travel in the game is a challenge and from a game play situation that sounds great.

BUT

I just want to log in and play with my friends. If I can't port all around the Map I have to spend hours just to travel to play with my friend who happens to be in another part of the world. This is UNFUN.

Has some thought been given to how these two competing ways of instilling travel might end up being implemented?

    ArcheAge handled this beautifully. You basically had portal stones called "hereafter" stones which you could use to open a portal that you had to actually jump through. You could only portal to specific places where you could record the location in a special book you carried on you. If you didn't have the hereafter stones or the book you couldn't teleport anywhere.

    You also couldn't teleport while wearing any kind of trade pack.

    It was immersive, convenient, strategic and fun.

    That being said BDO has absolutely no fast travel and it makes the game a bit more immersive as well as giving you a solid reason to have alts AND it gave you quite a lot of incentive to level up and breed higher tier horses with good skills so you could rocket across the map on a lightning fast steed!

    You can go to a science node and fast travel from there.
