How big will the map be/will there be DLC or expansions/and some other stuff.
this post in a nutshell is me speculating and asking questions about Ashes of Creation.
1. how big will the map be. the map needs to be big to support the players. will it be just one big continent or will it be multiple continents.
2. will there be any DLC or expansions. why do i ask about this? well, lets say if one server have all the areas explored and there are no new thinks to see or do. then a thing like a expansion could be usefull. but, i think that many people dont want any DLC or expansions and want any new areas be free updates and i am one of them. i am just asking about it.
here are the other stuff i wanted to ask about.
3. will there be mounted combat. i just got this idea when i was looking at the new stretch goals and saw that there would be enhanced mounts if we reach 1 250.000 on kickstarter. when i saw this i got the idea if there MAYBE would be some kind of mouted combat.
4. ok, the thing i am about to ask now is about the lore. as far as i know about the lore is that in old times the world was inhabited by our ancestor but, then a armageddon of some sorts happened which corrupted the creatures, turning them mad and evil. then the corrupted creatures destoyed the civilization. the ancestor fled to a another world using portals.
so what i am talking about is what if this armageddon would happen to us in game. like here a exampel, lets say one or two times a year this armageddon would be a big event which affects the all corners of the map. wave after wave of corrupted creatures would be trying to destroy all Nodes and destroy our civilization that we players made. there would be two outcomes. one, we are able to push back the hordes of corrupted creatures and come up with a way to win. or the second outcome... we lose, BIG, and the map would reset to its state before any players could build any Nodes on it. and what would we do then? simple we rebuild the map again. and then the event will come back and we have to try to fight it again. we could win this time or we lose yet again. and then we would rebuild again. this would a cylce, and even if we do manage to push the corrupted creatures away, they would come back stronger than last time and beat the shit out of us. this cycle would keep the world fresh for ever time we rebuild we can make the world diffrent. note that i am just speculating and we just have to see how the game will be at release.

Unless Intrepid has said "we will not charge for an expansion. Ever!" I wouldn't rule out paid expansions.
Actually, paid expansions plus sub fees has been the normal business model for MMOs for decades.
