Almost too perfect!
Over 1 million dollars in less than 24 hours! That, in my opinion, is something worthy of celebration. Interpid studios has pulled off the impossible, but am i being too skeptical when i say "It's almost too perfect?" In the last decade or so, the MMO genre has been, to studios, nothing but a quick cash grab. Games come one after one delivering on a fraction of what they've promised, and AoC is promising a little over too much. I am not saying "AoC is in the same shoe as those studies" but this project, Ashes of Creation, is almost too ambitious. I stand skeptical, since so many studies *Cough* No Man's *Cough* have really promised great things, yet delivered so little of what they initially promised. I hope some of you can offer a counterargument to what i just said.

But, as Haunt articulated, the only thing we can rely on is the openess of the dev team, at Intrepid. Openess, and honesty. That requires a bit of faith, which, is sorely lacking in our world, for understandable reasons. But, that's the long, and short, of it. For those who pledged, or are deciding to pledge, only do what you're comfortable with. For those who don't, it's all good. Just sit back, and see what happens. Wherever you stand, stay informed, and hope for the best!
I'm more worried about the risk of failure to be honest. All we have right now are just concepts presented to us through cinematic cameras. To me they just sound like enthusiastic guys who may or may not be in over their heads. That is something worth being skeptical about.
They call it design drift. Instead of having and plan and focusing solely on that task,
you get side tracked, the mind and the design wonders, and before you know it you have a chaotic mess.
The game wanders aimlessly with no way out.
And those kind of devs just repeatedly hand out the begging bowl while they sit on their arses.
Thanks crowd.
This project management has focus.
Those stretch goals are bonus stuff that will take place after the base game completes.
They are not new game design trying to be crammed in before release.
I wish more games worked this way.
Subscription for maintenance and upkeep.
Targetted Kickstartor Donations for Selectable development packages or upgrades.
Cash shop for beer money.
Besides, IF he can prove he is genuine.
Too many of us wont allow the game to fail for technical reasons.
And judging by the financial clout of the community, not by financial hiccups either.
We have been waiting too long and suffered too much to let such an opportunity like this pass.
IF its goals are genuine and sincere.
The validity of that big IF will become apparent over the next few weeks.
