Purchase model

Nothing on Kickstarter states anything about "receiving a copy of the game upon release" or anything to that affect. So my question for anyone who knows is will backers still have to purchase the game upon release? I know, and frankly am glad that there is a subscription model, but to pay a bunch of money to help fund the project then have to turn around and buy the finished product in the end seems a bit underhanded.

  • To my knowledge the game will be sub to play and no box cost as it is currently. Similar model to guild wars in the subscription regard.

Yup. It's a subscription service to play the game with all its content (save for kickstarter exclusives and the cosmetic items in the cash shop). No "box cost".
  • You absolutely get the game, under any tier, $25 and up.

There is, of course, an ongoing monthly fee for access.
  • I wonder how they'll handle new accounts/players. As in, will the sub be needed right off the bat, or will they incorporate some form of grace period for people to try the game first.
  • They'll have to sub right off the bat unless they launch some kind of trial program.

There is nothing to BUY. You pay the Subscription thats it. Outside of buying what ever you want in the cash shop.
  • It's like people have never heard of a subscription based model ... I swear.
