being rich or not? that is the question.

Hello this is a mail for the game creator. I think it's normal to have different rewards depending of the kickstarter you bought but creating a world that only the richs can reach and influence the deva or the MJ, better play in real life!! It's really unfair and chocking. I know that the higher buyers will be able to build their own home faster, so i also want to ask if home will be accessible to lower buyers even if it takes more time? Can you send me more informations about the game at least? Regards.

can you show me what item is doing that? every item I see is cosmetic or just allows you a little extra content, and the latter can be acquired in game without irl cash.
  • Nothing that will be bought in game or in kickstarter packages should give players an economic or gameplay advantage over others. Ashes is strictly against pay to win mechanics.
  • The argument can be made that because those who have money can afford a package that they have bought into alpha and will gain knowledge that will give them a head start and an advantage. This argument can be made about anything. If you receive a tier three house and are in the game first , you have a greater chance of having your home centered around the town square and tiered up faster cause you were there first!..Guess what?..that's life. That's real. There is NO scenario where everyone starts at the same starting line at the same time with the same skill set and the same gear and the same advantage or disadvantage, It doesn't exist. It looks to me that the dev team has done their best to separate KS rewards from game play defining gear. My home or tier..my pet dragon or mount..my spectral steed may draw a jealous eye but will not help me kill the mobs i need to kill to advance.
  • Nothing in the kickstarter gives a player an advantage. All the buildings you see are cosmetic appearances for buildings and don't represent that actual building. The higher buyers still have to go through the same process as the ones who don't buyer. None of those buildings you see are the actual building, they are appearances you can attach to the building .

Don't worry about how much you pay. you will not be at a disadvantage

  • I didn't see anything in the kick starter that gave players an additional advantage except for two

    1. Closed Alpha/Beta Access
    2. 2 Day head start

Both of these are informational advantages to some degree while the 2 day head start is simply being able to play 48 hours more. Both of which are not P2W.
  • Contribution of $ 2,500 or more

Gain Access to the "Phoenix Initiative"
    Q & A sessions with the Devs
Work with the Devs to design.

    Phoenix Initiative
The Phoenix initiative reward is an exclusive game instance in which certain players can enter. Think of it as a secret club, where you can socialize with other members. This area will not offer any “Pay to Win” functionality, it will simply offer what the world does in a more personal space. This is an area devs and GMs will often hang out there in their off time, and gives you a chance to interact with them in game!

How is that an advantage? Seems like they get to play on a more private server. >_>

As for the houses being closer to the center of town square, if I recall correctly, those that have a head start and such, nodes won't be activated during the head start period and will only be activated once the server is open.
  • I put the phoenix initiative in the same light as the other items... information advantage which will nullify in game. IMO not a big deal.

True, and given that alpha / beta access is more bug testing than playing a fully functional game, I'd go as far as to say limited information advantage.

It will also provide exclusive cosmetics for its members unless I misunderstood Steven in his interview on DungeoCrawlerNetwork. Not really P2W. The closest thing to P2W is the head start, but they said they will have separate servers for them so just don't create a character there if it bothers you.
  • It makes sense, if you are a large investor, the dev team owes it to you to have a say in the game development.
  • What I should be crying about is the fact that I pledged 5k on the game and I cannot even gain 2017 alpha access :(
