For those who truly plan to play this game. READ THIS!!

For the benefit of all of us who look forward to playing this game:

If you have not backed this project through Kickstart, then there are compelling reasons to do so that benefits you regardless.

1. Monthly subscription fee is said to be 15$. Here are some translations to you:

25$- 1-month game time + bonuses = 10$ out of pocket for bonuses
50$- 2-months game time + bonuses = 20$ out of pocket for bonuses which includes beta access

2. People who plan to play this game at least one month to try it out should get the 25$ kickstart.

This is because you will be spending only 10$ more, you get some extra things, but more importantly: the game reaches a better state on launch through funding while nothing really changes for you.

3. If this truly interests you, and you know for sure you will at least try one month subscription, then you should get the cheapest kickstart. Everyone should spread the word on this. 158 backers currently for the 25$ kickstart could turn into thousands with this logic.

And last but not least, here is my referral link. Worth a shot right?

As did I. I tend to play one game at a time and go hardcore into it for years. In the end, I figure that will save me money. But I still think it'd be dumb to know you are going to play this game when it comes out, see the kickstarter, and not make these connections to at least do 25$ because you lose slim to nothing beyond what you would already be doing. And we all know that there are thousands of people who are just "waiting to see" who know they will play the game when it comes out for at least that one month.

I currently play league of legends.

    i giggled a little :D well played!
  • Intrepid is going to try some new game mechanics. I'll chip in a little and see what happens.

If they succeed it'll be a fantastic gaming experience for years.

Haha, you know some people are really benefiting so easily from that. Youtubers and twitch streamers. It's a decent strategy, but they should have only offered the links to people who could prove to have established followers. The problem now is that everyone is going to overspam these links everywhere and wreck this games image. Sort of like how you see those game ads on facebook. Makes it feel cheap.

  • I would counter that this one of the few times I've encountered a kickstarter where it was cheaper to NOT back.

Which for a lot of people is a good reason to wait. The rewards are nice but people only care about extra bits for games they like, and although the game sounds great on paper, it's still a roll of the dice whether it will turn out as imagined (see: No Man's Sky). I dunno. I was honestly surprised to see that even at 100 dollars you're only getting three months of gametime, which is a little wonky to me, but whatever. I'm really glad the game has sparked interested but I wish there was more value for the backing tiers. Like if not actual gametime, then even a lifetime discount on 6 to 12 month memberships, or something.

(For what it's worth I backed at $40)

There is a lot going for the game, at least. I don't believe it will turn out as planned because plans always change. What I do believe is that the creators are gamers and not just profiteers. Issues will come and things will change. But I am a firm believer that people should not get anything in a game for putting money in. Cosmetics only. As for your subscription thoughts, why would they offer more months than what it is worth? Maybe they could make it equal, but that's about it.

Because that's how kickstarters normally work. There's two kinds of investment - there's early adoption, and there's angel-investor.

I mean if you think about it, it's a silly proposition, to ask someone to pay more for a product that's not finished yet, than for the finished product. For higher tiers of backing that's always the case, but for lower tiers? Usually those are treated as 'pre-orders with benefits' because unlike ordinary pre-orders, the game isn't finished and there's some risk involved in backing. And most of the time when you back a game *you get the game*. In this case you don't. The rewards only matter if you choose to subscribe.

Again, the 100 dollar backer level is almost the price of a 12 month membership for most games, and it gets three months in sub fees. Three months is usually around 42 dollars under most MMO subscription plans. Does it really not seem odd to you that they didn't at least bump it up to 6 months (usually worth around 82 bucks)? I dunno, it does to me.

I definitely would have backed more if the subscription times better reflected the amount you were paying. I'm not saying they're doing anything wrong, just like... I would've done it differently.

  • Personally, im not too worried about the money spent versus the time you get right now. Ive waited for so damn long for a decent game to poke its head out that i dont even care about the money right now. Im totally fed up with the choice of mmo's today even though i still dabble in a couple of them.....to keep sane of course.

Its going to be another long wait for me but i hope my search for a decent mmo has finally ended. The last time i waited for a game for multiple years was SWTOR and it was well worth the wait....until it got hacked and slashed into a single player fiasco.

Next year cant come fast enough for me.
  • Is there going to be a box cost for the game or just a sub?
  • Its going to be subscription base. So just how guild wars 2 had a download, I'm guessing the same will apply here
  • Im so close to my goal of buying the 500$ one, I just need little bit more! lol Hopefully they dont sell out as fast as everything else has been in the last couple of days! lol
Is there going to be a box cost for the game or just a sub?
There will be no box cost, it will be subscription based.
  • Yes. I also got the life subscription. I can't be bothered with anymore subscriptions, so I hopped right on this one. ahha. Something else
    I don't have to worry about. :P
  • I got the lifetime as well.. that really was the draw. I was sitting happy at 80 but saw the prospect of a lifetime so I figured eh, what the heck go for it.
  • Lifetime sub was a 50-50 for me. To get 'its value' you've got to play for nearly 3 years. I can't think of any MMO, even ones I've loved, that I've played for 3 years straight. Sometimes it's a year or two... and sometimes I've gone back for another helping. I tend to burn bright for a year or two, then go away for awhile, or sometimes go away forever. So it's a hard one.

Even now I look at something like ESO that I've played hard over a few distinct periods, and I feel I've pretty much sucked the marrow out of it, and it's only been out for three years in total. Three years is a hell of a long time when you're playing something competitively, every day. In the end I figured I might/would probably get the value out of it... just... but it's a lot of money to drop, so I ended up just going founder, and the monthly fees will be on me if I play any sort of extended time in the game.

I don't say any of this to put people off the lifetime sub, just explaining why it didn't suit me in the end. But it went close.
  • I'm still salty about the whole Everquest Next thing.
