Ashes of Creation on Linux

As someone who plays regularly with Unreal engine developing and mucking about. I would like to know how many people have the same wish as I do. A native release of this game on Linux. Unreal makes this far easier than ever before with its cross platform, plus Vulkan driver support which is becoming more and more stable as the days go on. I my self use Antergos Linux daily, and play many games on it. I really wish for a MMO to chuck some money and time into with some other gamers, while not having to to switch to windows. With 2,300 apps just on steam alonesee stats here. This could easily help boost the amount of revenue and player base loyal to Ashes.

• I know its converts are zealots for it, but Linux is even more niche than Mac OS and they aren't developing for that, so the chances of Linux would seem remote to my mind.

If you want to game, get on the established PC gaming platform -- Windows.
• Poor linux...
• We already are. Just want a less intrusive option.
• yes your established as you call it is dying, Windows S presents exactly on top of regular horrible windows 10 exactly what Microsoft thinks of its consumers. Linux in installations is way up thanks to them.

What ever you are smoking I want some of it because it really is making you delusional. You are talking about less than 1% of the market being linux on desktop. Your like the Systems Engineer I work with that are on the linux side of the house. A new one comes and and cannot figure out how the server is working because the last admin screwed up with the linux Kernal so bad.
• First I am not a systems administrator, but lets break this down, Microsoft is continuing to slams its consumers in the face. And all I am asking for here is Ashes native on linux. Which is growing in adoption rate, it already rules the server side with unix. Its funny to me that this little innocent things being asked for for a free opensource system is scaring people who probably have not spent time recently in a Linux desktop. But lets chuck some stats your way. Like previously you will notice steam has well over 2k native steam apps alone, not to mention you can run any android app on linux. As well as Linux's massive repo's of games and applications. Here is a article from TechRepublic claiming further rise. Here is a Wired article that gives a preif mention on how anything you touch is supported by Linux, so there is really no reason for hatred, its here to help. And even this year so far Linux adoption rate is at 2.14 to 2.09% that is not a few hundred people, and these are all mostly tech savy people who have top of the line cards.

Now because I know people are going to continue to smash Linux because they don't want to try it, and will ignore the nice time I spent googling. I do not hate windows, I in fact love windows 7, but sadly as Microsoft said screw anyone with new hardware you have to be on windows 10, and I have a ryzen CPU I am now full time Linux. Truth be told Microsoft is hurting people their consumers. Unreal Engine supports Linux right out of the engine and even Vulkan drivers. Linux gamer's are a nice juicy market of nerds with cash and passion. Literally all I am asking is if when they release the game can it support us natively. The constant hate isn't helping anyone though. If you still have windows 7 great stay on it and don't update your hardware. If you have anything newer well hope it works out for you, but give some Linux a try.
• Gotta agree with the earlier comments. If they aren't putting this on Mac (approx 5% of the market), they won't be putting it on Linux (less than half at approx 2% of the market).
• Linux is the future. It dominates in the server market, it's just a matter of time before it prevails on desktop. Besides the fact that Linux has a bigger adoption rate than VR yet people are still developing for it .

All arguments aside, Microsoft is slowly turning its desktop OS into a data mining tool that has many more bugs. I doubt that Linux or Mac is a priority, but with the rise of Vulkan, I would not say that anything is completely off the table.

The PS4 runs a modified version of FreeBSD for example.

Who knows what the future might bring?
• Nice necro... (why do people keep necroing old dead threads). They've said they are focusing on Windows and it will not have out of the box support for Linux.
