Having issues with referrals? Click here to fix it! (Instructions w/ pictures!)

Hey everybody. Apparently there are some issues with people not being able to receive referrals properly. I am here to help you with this. If you know somebody who says that they used your link but you're not seeing it and they want to pursue it with you, have them follow these instructions.

Step 1:
Have them delete their account.

To do this, go to the top right and click their username, then go to "My Profile."

After they are at their profile, have them click the gear and go to "My Account."

Once in my account, have them click "Delete Account" and if there are any additional instructions, to follow them.

They will receive a confirmation that their account has been deleted at the email they registered with.

Step 2:
Create a new account with a fresh browser.

For this next step, I suggest having them use Microsoft Edge ONLY IF they use Firefox or Chrome. This will be the simplest way because people generally install a separate browser. If they use Chrome or Firefox though, I suggest having them delete their cookies and disabling their adblocker and starting fresh.

How to delete cookies:

Firefox:

Have them do the following:

Click the settings sandwich on the right (the three horizontal lines.)

Go to settings.

Click Privacy, then "remove individual cookies."

Scroll through to find ashesofcreation.com, then select it. Now click "remove selected."

Ensure all ashesofcreation.com tabs are closed first, then have them close their browser and reopen it.

Chrome:

Have them do the following:

Visit www.ashesofcreation.com.

To the left of the address "https://www.ashesofcreation.com", click where it says "Secure" then click "cookies."

A window should pop up. Click each line and click remove.

Ensure all ashesofcreation.com tabs are closed first, then have them close their browser and reopen it.

Step 3:
Disable adblocking software

Ensure that all adblocking software is disabled. The easiest way is to have them go to their extensions or plugins and disable anything that is an adblocker (Adblock Plus, Ublock Origin, etc.) Once that is complete, they should be able to visit the site via your referral link and register.

Firefox:

Have them do the following:

Click the settings sandwich on the right (the three horizontal lines.)

Go to Add-ons.

Click "Extensions" on the left panel.

Have them find their adblocker of choice and click 'Disable'.

Ensure all ashesofcreation.com tabs are closed first, then have them close their browser and reopen it.

Chrome:

Have them do the following:

Click the three dots in the upper right and go to settings.

Click "Extensions" in the upper left.

Have them find their adblocker of choice and untick 'Enabled'.

Ensure all ashesofcreation.com tabs are closed first, then have them close their browser and reopen it.

Step 4:
Refer them!

Send them their link and have them open it in the browser they just disabled their adblocker in and deleted their cookies. Have them copy the link and paste it into the address bar of their browser. Once they have visted the site, check your referral "visits" page to see if they have visited. You should see a new entry with a red X.

If this has happened, have them click the big "register now" button in the middle.

Once they've entered their email, username and password and clicked submit, have them validate their email address the same way: have them copy the validation address by right clicking and selecting "Copy Link" or "Copy Link Location" and paste it into their browser.

Voila! You should now see a conversion to an unpaid referral in your referral window!

I hope this has helped you! If it has, and you have not yet been referred, please consider using my referral address, which is https://www.ashesofcreation.com/ref/Siigari/

Thanks, and enjoy!

  • Oh, something important I forgot to add. DO NOT LET THEM DO THIS IF THEY ALREADY HAVE REFERRALS OR THIS COULD DELETE THEIR REFERRALS!

Please keep this in mind, thank you!
  • This is useful if your referral is a friend, but for those advertising the game to the public sadly I don't see this as likely.

Steven has told me though; "We are working on allowing users to enter a referral name into the registration. And will likely allow those registrants without a referral to assign one after we update the system".
  • Can people use the same e-mail adress and nick to sign up again after deleting their old accounts?
  •
Can people use the same e-mail adress and nick to sign up again after deleting their old accounts?
Yes.
  • Once again thanks for this. All of my referrals had been blocked out due to various reasons and this was the work around I needed in order to secure those.

    Thanks again.
  • when i saw the "delete your account" part, i thought you were just trolling. Its sad that its so messed up that you have to do such a thing. I would wait for the AoC team to fix that.
  • how exactly do you set up a referral link to your account?
  •
how exactly do you set up a referral link to your account?
I'm thinking the referral link can either be a key somebody pastes into their signup page in a "Referrer" field, or the link to the site could have cookies that function properly.

I mean, there are options here :D
  •
how exactly do you set up a referral link to your account?
Here are the instructions. referal set up guide
  • so basically simply post that referral link with my name and if someone clicks i "should" get credit? Im not going to worry about all that other stuff. Like this? https://www.ashesofcreation.com/ref/TickledPink/ (or do I need to generate a URL?)
  • I havn't used the system but i beleive that from the description that if someone uses the link you have put there to get to the site and then creates an account you will get the credit.

Edit: I have just checked deathproxys link and it is the same as the one you put but with his name in so I think that is going to work.
  • I've given my link to some friends... they go to website, check it out... and register either later or the next day... sometimes it gives me credit... sometimes it don't.... the referral count seems not to be the same.... on one, says 6... another says 7.... kinda odd... but hoping in time it gets fixed.... maybe when things calm down I'll PM someone or email them....
