Bring MML into Ashes of Creation

Hello girls and boys!
I have put together a small document where I have gathered some of the community members thoughts and ideas around a possible music system based of MML.
This document will serve as an idea pitch if the dev. team has not already considered this feature, and if they already have, it works more as a guideline to what we as a community wish for. If I didn't have the opportunity to ask you about your thoughts and opinions, please drop them in here so that your voice can be heard as well!
^hover to see link lol
Warning, its a long read, bring some coffee or tea!
Should some of these opinions and matters listed be subject to change as more people add in, I will of course update the document to reflect that.
Edit: Steven have since the start of the thread hinted and spoken about adding a music system into AoC. It is not yet confirmed how it will be implemented or if MML will be the language we will code with.

I really think Ashes could benefit from this kind of system, it would add so much more immersion into the game. :)
I'm all for this, nothing would make me happier than finding a new game to compose music in <3
But I would like to see the harp not being reduced just to the lyra but also upgradable to celtic harp and orchestral harp.
@Skullhead51 I also wish for it to be added as a stretch goal or just considered to be implemented anyway. I think it really fits the theme and feel of the world they are going for.
Regarding the games, it currently exist in its "full" form in 3 MMO titles.
Two other titles have included it in lesser form (like restricted to housing) but I'm unsure if they honestly use MML or ABC (No. Bad thought you got there, we want MML not ABC ;P)
And a big brick building title have MML in the form of a mod.. lol :D
I'd love to see a harp as both a lyre and an instrument i could have in my home, hopefully we can have both!
Having diffrent harp sounds could be fixed by using diffrent soundfonts, in the current standard midi tables there's only one kind of harp and that's the orchestral harp.
But by using soundfonts it can sound something like this depending on what font you choose.
https://youtu.be/DSyKyaxgv5s
First playthrough sounds like the standard midi harp and the second one i added a soundfont to make it sound more realistic. :)
Note: The program i'm using is called 3ML which is a program we have been using to make MML codes for ArcheAge and Mabinogi.
I covered this in the document but many of us, me included, would want beautiful big grand instruments to put in our home. Instruments like grand piano, orchestral harp, timpani and cellos etc. Our conflict lies in the fact that we really want to be able to play these instruments in the world as well. If we can't have instruments both static and spawn-able for that purpose - many people I talked to wished to have two skins for the same MIDI source and used Mabinogi as their example where the orchestral harp code is used in a lyre-shape. The lyre shape would be their go-to street instrument and a big beautiful harp to put in their home. I'm sorry if that came across as unclear :)
and then the more painful mechanics,
the instruments will also have a durability meter, which will mean you will need to repair them on a regular basis.Maybe not the book though.
but oh boy I'd love to see this be applied.

I do agree on having to repair instruments! Upkeep of your tools is important!
I'm also with you on the cash shop, only unique sound I would ever support going up there is old event rewards so new people or people that missed the event can catch up, I feel its sort of fair. Some people would argue "hey they weren't there, that's their own problem" while I feel like "If I can play it, so should they be able to, hey, at least I didn't have to cough up real money for it!" Still if its highly possible to make a living of music and become rich from it, my standpoint on that would probably shift.
Edit; Could also have them rewards tradeable so people could have a chance to get them in game even if they join late. Would probably cut down the need for them to be up on CS. I still however don't mind such a thing being uo there so long as music stay a hobby thing and not turn into a goldmine.
The idea of player made town or housing music, or bard performances to draw in NPCs could be really cool.
While I feel implementation would take some resources for sure, I think this would be a reasonable stretch goal that would make the world feel more alive.
Wow! It sounds amazing!
But looking at the new stretch goals, I don't think it will be implemented :(
Don't lose hope yet! Might be part of the social progession thing in the kickstarter, or already planned to be a part of the game which they haven't announced. :)
I am however glad to see that even people that didn't know of MML before they looked at the document support the idea!
It really supports my claim that this is something a lot of people would enjoy :)
Have tons of songs ready to be re-imagined and played in Ashes. :)
Bards! BARDS!

HYPE TRAIN HAVE NO BREAKS!
It's not confirmed what language we get to code with, so lets nag Steven and the dev team until he realise mml is master race ;)
Edit: @neet was faster! ;_;
Still, nothing is 100% confirmed, but for me the hypetrain is still running on schedule :D
But still, do you guys and girls also have the feeling that they say "Yes" to a lot of questions and ideas.
What I mean is, that when they get asked something about a feature or the game in general during i.e. the Q&A sessions they say "yes" a lot. It makes feel like they are overpromising, even though they would not have to...
I think its more a case of, they want what most players want.
So yes appears to be the norm.
When it comes to the music, I know that Steve did indeed play a lot of ArcheAge. Being the lover of RP and immersion that he is I don't find it hard to believe he picked up the idea from then, if not from before that time (Since there are indeed other games with this system).
All we can hope for now is that the devs vision is the same or similar to our vision, I think that the document would help them cross that bridge *hint hint nudge nudge*
