I love Alts. In SWG I had 8 toons. Has there been any discussion as to how many toons we can have per account?
If so would anyone care to enlighten me?

I know what your saying. It's a problem for every game. For me Alts give me the opertunity to try more aspects of the game, different archtypes, combat specialist toons and crafting specialist toon. It is very rare for a game to give you the opertunity to be good in multiple roles without alts. However that is just my play preference.
Exactly why I love alts :-) Given the depth and complexity of the crafting system, not to mention the game in general, it actually <em>feels</em> as though having alts will be slightly harder; each one will have to be leveled up to a certain point to be viable, and it's entirely possible that the drain on your main could tempt one not to develop alts.
Hopefully, that will not be the case. I LOVE ME SOME ALTS!

also, I've multi-boxed on a mobile game, one bots while the other is played by me, so sue me.
anyways, without bots or paralell controls, multi boxing is very challenging if not impossible.
another solution is to make it so that you cannot play in the same account(even if you have a 100 alts in it) from two devices at the same time. it'll logout from computer A if you log in in computer B

Yes this seems like a sensible way of controlling multi logins on a single account.

Agreed Kadin. The problem is even if the devs can control cash shop etc I don't think there is any way to prevent people paying multiple accounts. With all the best intentions in the world I dont think it is possible to eradicate that element of pay to win. I'm hoping that the non automation of tasks will at least make it difficult to bot tasks on multiple accounts. but we will just have to wait and see on that one.

if there are 8 races there should be 8 toons allowed in my opinion. i like having one of each if not more depending on what classes / races combos i do. :)
12 per server? 24 per server? I recall at the beginning, EQ was at 3 character slots? Some games have 8, 12, 24, etc. In other games you can also purchase more character slots which I am curious about. Will you be able to buy more slots? With their attitude about the "cash shop" I don't know how they'd feel about that. I guess it also depends on how they would define more character slots as P2W or just more opportunity for other experiences.
I love alts because of the variety of experience possibilities and while I don't see myself making 512 characters to create each possible character configuration, I'm still going to be making characters on multiple servers and a variety of different types of characters. (With the 9th race, that number goes up to 576. If there are substantial differences with the 6 religions, that goes up to 3,456. I'm sure some will try for that number because it sounds like a challenge.)

The question becomes what is there to be gained. AoC just has to take away what can be gained from mult-boxing and remove any form of beneficial automation like auto follow or auto cast fishing etc. Casted buffs that auto drop when the caster goes afk etc.
That aside the dev's cannot win this battle alone the players have to help. Reporting and killing bot / muti-botter
I have a couple ideas.
1. i love to see is karma removed from a player who killed another player that gets banned for botting & some kinda bot slayer title as a reward.
2. Max number of clients per IP kinda thing, Or at-least an auto investigation into any accounts /clients where more then X number are connected at the same time.
