I'd like to see a marriage system in place

I was wondering if there was any talk of a marriage system for the game. I was thinking like both players have to play for 30+ days, be at a certain level and pay a fee, have the ceremony / party (depending on what the players want) and ta-da. The two players will then get a Extravagant Wedding Ring. You can also get items from a spouse shop as well as wedding costumes for the occasion. And if the marriage fails, a divorce. >:D

Though, if there wasn't talks, can someone ask on my behalf over the discord thingie? I tried e-mailing the company a couple of times to no reply and I have no idea how to do the chat thingie.

There will be a marriage system. I'll see if I can find the specific quote for you.

Couldn't find an official quote, though I could swear I did see one somewhere...

However, according to Deathsproxy it is confirmed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3vtsBQTURU

Lots of other people on discord have said it is confirmed as well. So take that as you will.

People should watch vids themselfs before questioning. So many questions they can find out themselfs. If they love the game they should watch those vids.

Atleast thats what a true fan would do?

Lol if someone is new to this, isn't this a place to ask questions, like another form of information hence the question? I don't think they aren't a "real fan" if they are using this as a resource.....it is after all the best source no? Wasn't this website made by the games creators? If you mean the vids here, yes they could watch those, but maybe they couldn't find exactly what they were looking for?

Well if there isn't a marriage system in game , I will be happy to marry in-game couples for a generous coin purse..or two.

Considering there is a religion system in place I'd say marriage may be tied to that?????
As for benefits and buffs? I doubt it. Maybe shared properties or storage, but giving experience or stat buffs wouldn't really make sense as then everyone would marry just for the perks.

Well hopefully people playing Clerics/Priests can take a part in the system some how. Cool picture in your avatar by the way , your human seem nice and friendly. :)

I watched the Youtube video of that english guy who said that he thought there would be..but it would be monogamous marriages and no children. I think they actually played with the idea of npc children but didn't want to see NPC children killed in sieges.

Given the political element of the game, it would be cool if marriages had some sort of mechanics attached. For example, you get bonuses for working together on certain things or at certain times but incur a debuff or something if you don't work together often enough. I wouldn't want to make it too overpowered or punishing but I like the idea that a player would want to carefully select someone who was compatible with them (played at the same times, did similar or complementary content etc.). It would also make long standing marriages more meaningful!

ESO gave a marriage ring XP buff but eventually they're replaced by good jewelry with actual stats.

    Marriage system, yay.

Also to the person above, why would you turn people away from participating? Let's just close the forums down until the game is released because very vague details touching on every game element have been dispensed by the devs already!

but then if they looked stuff up and watched the videos they wouldn't have any excuse for posting repeat questions on the forums in an attempt to get an alpha key from Intrepid would they :)

Thats kinda harsh. Some people are unfamiliar with how else to get into contact with the community. Not to mention currently searching through the forums with all the bugs is a no-go!

This is a direct link where activity can obtain results!

Although things are grazed over in videos, a forum can offer in depth answers and better understanding from people who arent visual or audio learners! Maybe they saw a ad on the internet or a post on a friends FB? The natural thing is to look up the games direct page and head to the forums. That doesnt make them any less of a fan then anyone.

So lets try to be a little nicer..ya? :)

I hope the marriage system has a rewards system when you do things together, like in Revelation Online's marriage system!!! It makes couple actually want to do things together to further their "bond" so to speak; also might provide some great marriage only prizes and stuff!! I hope there is like a Swan mount or like honeymoon beds! lol

there will be a marriage system, although guessing by how the rest of the system goes, you'll have to go to a divine node level 3 or above with each player equipped a special crafted ring and dress/armor, made with some ore, gem, blah blah. in the divine node you'll have to complete a certain quest while in the same party(and only you two in the party)in the end your rings will switch and be soul bound(a.k.a you cannot unequip, throw or sell it). and you both are married. similarly for a divorce, only you'll not be able to sell or throw the ring in the end.

@Velish, you're a meanie beanie! I already backed the devs via the kickstarter, so stop assuming without knowing me... ._.
@Gemiichan, you are an absolute hero! Can we be bestest friends?! >v<

If storage is shared and other things, the question is: who do you trust? You wouldn't in that case marry some random unless you wanted to get all your items stolen.
  • Options
Good, so what is marriage? All the examples I have seen so far have been based on real life social constructs. (rings, kids, 2 people joined together via ceremony, shared habitation).

How are the developers defining marriage?

Marriage referred to thus far in this thread looks like the legal contract entered into by two consenting people, which is fine. Could I be married to the element air (as an example?) and dependent on the air quality at the time (cool, hot, moisture) would that affect me in some way?

I'm all for traditional in game coupling I have no qualms but it would be cool to have a deeper mechanic to marriage. Being married to an idea, a faith, an item, an element might be something interesting to consider. Certainly a mechanic thats not used often in games, you are not complete without that which you are married too, and no im not a hopeless romantic, LOL.

Maora, there is a lot of information available on the forums but also on the official discord. I would suggest, if you haven't already, to join the official discord, where you can converse with old and newer people interested in the game, and get a lot of questions answered.

You will also get more familiar with the community and be able to interact with the developers on a daily basis.

I would like to see an in-game marriage with the following benefits:
    1. Small bonus on xp when you are together
    2. Shared housing (or access to each other's houses, which would be retracted if there is a divorce)
    3. The ability to dissolve the marriage (divorce)
