In game mail?

I may have just missed it but so far I have not heard any mention of in game mail. Taking into account that the devs seem very keen to keep the players doing the legwork, if there is a mail system will there be a very limited weight alowance if any weight alowance at all. If there has been any discussion on this I would love to know what has been said.

Thanks as always for any info provided.

  • Maybe text only but no items or limited yea. But probbaly not much, cause you need caravans to transport your goods.

Otherwise you could mail to your alt and sell in a different town.

Yes my thoughts exactly. It had occured to me while I was replying to another thread that mail might not even be available to start with as when the game 1st starts there would be no technowlogy at all untill nodes start being developed. Would there only be maill collection devices when nodes are established? Like you I think any facility to mail goods would have to be extreamy limited or just not an option.
  • Would be cool to employ some kind of bird mail service. Carrier pigeons, doves, ravens (white ravens for really important events :). A realistic, immersive way to deliver mail.
  • I concur. I wouldn't expect them to implement a mail system to send items. I can see something very similar to the mail in EVE.

    Similarin
  • Or maybe you could implement a way that some items could be sent, only small things like consumables or materials, but it actually takes time to travel. Maybe every hour a courier leaves each settlement with whatever mail was sent in that hour, and you can actually see them on roads. Meaning that it could always be faster to move stuff yourself, but if you are happy for it to take longer/cost a little, the courier can move some items for you.

An intersting idea. As long as as you said it was a very limited size/weight allowance.
  • An easy way to do it would be to impose a weight limit on how much you can send in a mail. And just base it on how much a regular person could actually carry.

Can you send someone an entire ship? No.
Can you send them a box of food? Sure.
Could you over time send them all the materials for a ship? Yes but it will be damned expensive and they should probably just get the mats where they need them :P
