Sea battles on the horizon! Ahoy!

Getting close to the $1.5M and opening up ships and sea battles. I think this will make such a difference to the game. Any game I have had with sea battles/travel it has been immensely fun! Thinking of Archeage and Vanguard in particular.

What do you guys think?

  • I'm not that fussed TBH, I'd rather they concentrate on land first and add in Naval warfare down the line, maybe as an expansion. BDO promised it and it still hasn't happened yet, in any decent way. And that games had 5 years development already.
  • I'm not too bothered about ship. I like the idea of underwater content. That could be interesting.
  • KS will enhance the naval content, so it's already in the game. But more ship classes and expanded underwater environments, exploration? HELL YEAH
Loved the naval system in Archeage. So this is something I'am really looking forward to.

Tentimes .... count me in as a shipmate xd

There's something about the ocean in games that brings with it mystery, the unknown, and the promise of adventure.

ArcheAge did it best (though I never played Vanguard to the point of traveling the seas...) Black Desert is also quote good, but needs more ships and options.

I'd almost say that for any game that HAS ocean travel and exploration, it's my favorite feature... and AoC is no different!

Though, Freeholds are a close second ;)
  • don't forget the underground.... wait a minute....
if you can go underground and you go until you reach the sea, what happens?
  • I for one also think ArchAge had one of the best overall sea content of any MMO that I have seen. I have always wondered why MMO's with large water area's never did contain real sea content. Sea content will be a main area of interest for me.
  • Assassins Creed Black Flag nailed sea battles and underwater exploration..I hope they're using that as inspiration.
  • All hands hoay! Shiver me timbers! Batten down the hatches, get those monkeys out and let's heave ho!
  • It seems there are a lot of "sea battle" fans. I'm not one of them :( but meh, more content = more happiness :P

For me it's not about the battles at all (wouldn't mind if there weren't such a thing). For me, it's all of the mystery and unknown the ocean holds... plus FISHING! I love the idea of heading out to the high-seas on a fishing trip, coming back with a bountiful haul of rare catches :)
  • I really enjoy the fleet battle in Naval Action, It's also a MMO set in age of sails in Caribbean.
Here is a trailer for it, skip to 1:00 if you wanna see some sweet fleet battle.
