New race option on Kickstarter at $2.5 million

Fingers crossed it is a rodent type. I would love to remake my Ratfolk rogue from Pathfinder. Poisoned needles right into the calves o' the big folk and scurry back into a hole they can't quit squeeze into.

I like the rodent type idea. It would be neat if it were something not really done before in games, or their own type of underground beast dwelling race that exists in this world.

I’m curious what kind of race they’ll come up with. Underground races tend to be lizards, moles, rats, and the like. These guys in the Kickstarter art have tails with a sharp tip and rounded heads. Could be either lizard people or rat people judging by what I’ve seen. I’ve seen games where Kobolds are rat people and I’ve seen games where Kobolds are lizard people, but they are always miners. Too bad we can’t see the shape of their noses 100% in the image. We could know what they are if we did.

Honestly, if there was a feline race I would make that as my first character. If not, I'll opt for humans/elves.

More races are always fun. I would like to see some concept art and more lore behind all races. Maybe even some information on how they will affect our class.

From what I've gathered I THINK its more like these are things they wanted to add down the line after release, but an increase in funding allows them to add them into the game on release instead.

This. I've been told by a source that Naval Combat is a planned post launch patch and that there will be an added subclass system for things like boating and politics, ect...

So I think we should wait and see.

It'll be an interesting race for sure, whatever it is. I originally thought they would add dwarves there, or "dark" elves type race. But something more beast-like could be really neat.

I wonder if it could be some kind of lizard-ish race? That I would play!

This sounds pretty epic to me, but I have little belief we'll actually reach this goal.
I hope so. But it's pretty far.

But, if we don't achieve it. I hope it'll be included in a future expansion or something.
That'd be pretty cool.

Just from D&D lore, several subterranean races come to mind;

Kobolds (small lizardmen)
Gnomes (Svirfneblin)
Myconids (fungus people)
Illithids (Mind Flayers)
Troglodyte (medium sized lizardmen)
Minotaur
Meazel (humanoid similar to a goblin but smaller)
Quaggoth (bear-like humanoid)
Varrangoin (bat people)
Yuan-ti (snake people)

Most of those are partially subterranean in nature, so they would make sense to see running around on the surface as players.

If it's dark elves, that would be the death knell for this game. 3 elf types in a game with already severely unoriginal races.

Here's hoping for a beast race of some type. Gnolls or Kobolds or Ratfolk or something. That might get more people interested.
