node question/s

so i have been looking at the nodes and cant seem to work out some stuff relating to them...

- how big are nodes and their zones of influence? or do the nodes take over other nodes/zones of influence to expand?
- are there a range of areas with different level mobs?
- do mobs level up and get harder as nodes get higher in level? and if so, do they still present a viable area for lower level characters once the node has leveled up?
- if there are no high level mobs in a zone of influence until the node levels up then what are higher level characters supposed to do and wouldn't them going to another node with higher level mobs cause the first node to shrink?
- will crafting resources also level up in the node as it levels? i am sure i saw something about this but cant find it now.

  • I haven't actually heard how mob levels will relate to the zones.

Some information <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/14luppZ3Ub8jmcw_aK65QWxYY4xa8qAo9zRfpYWBxOXE/edit#">here </a>that might answer some of your questions.
  • My understanding of the system for mobs, it sounds like as a node levels up, higher level mob spawns will start appearing in the wilderness. There should still be lower level mobs spawning around roads but the farther off the path you go, the higher the mobs should be. I don't think we have all the specifics but it sounds like this is the idea. Nodes should always be viable for low levels.
  • Let me add a question. So, we will have 8 races. Will the cities/metros have the architecture of the race who has influenced the node the most? So there will only be 8 metropolis that will look different from each other?

No there will be 5 Metropolis. The look will be based on what nodes they come from. Race will not play a role in number of metropolis and how the cities look.

That doesn't make sense. The architecture from metropolis must come from a race.

I think a node itself is comparatively small but the zone of influence widens to overtake other nodes
I think there is a range of areas with different level mobs throughout a zone of influence.
I'm not sure if individual mobs level, but at the very least higher level mobs will appear throughout a zone of influence as a node levels.

There are all kinds of stuff to do besides kill mobs. The node will be generating things for players to do. I'm pretty sure the node will set tasks based on the levels of the players within it's zone of influence. Which may include sending a high level player off to a location worthy of their level. A pristine low level node might send a high level character to retrieve rare resources in a high level region and then return to the low level node's zone of influence.
Seems unlikely that resources would level and more likely that new higher level resources would be "discovered".

City appearance should be a combo of Node type and race that was most active as buildings began appearing.
I wonder if the Underrealm will give us a 6th Metropolis. Seems likely to me.

Per one of the QA vids I've watched so far, the system "flags" you with a race tag and the races that contribute the most to the specific node will reflect on the actual architecture and other parts of the node as it levels. (though not sure the specifics of that)
  • yes its in one of the videos race absolutely affects the appearance of the node
