Recreating an Account (to set up referral)

Like a lot of other people, I was so excited about the game I set up my account before I read about how the referral program works. I realize I can delete my account and recreate it with a referral link, but before I do, I'd like to know whether I can use the same account name I have now. Does deleting an account make that account name available again?

    In case anyone else is wondering: I just tried it and it works as I had hoped. I was able to get my original account name after deleting my account.
