Hello, been years since had enough interest in a MMORPG to post on a forum

My first MMO was UO back in 1995 I think....

The only other time I ever posted anything on an upcoming MMORPG was WAY back when Eve-Online wasn't even in alpha testing. I was until CCP got a publisher a moderator on their IRC chatroom (was axed from that position 2 weeks after the publisher took over the community management though I was to be purged from the room the first week but the community manager forgot about me, so I stay long enough to get yelled for not being social enough and something I said apparently which probably made sense tbh since I was just a naive college student back then)... god things have changed since then. I also had the most post on their forums way back in the day. I think back to how stupid I was back then to care about that kind of thing, but I guess I was pretty foolish when I was a college student.

Anyhow, the reason I bring up those memories is the fact that no game really interested me enough to spark that kind of motivation. This game I guess does enough I can share my experience with random people and I beginning to like the ideas behind the game, so I hope it goes well.

Thank you for anybody who read this.

  • Hello Nevik!

I know what you mean, it has been a long time since a game really hyped me up as much as Ashes of Creation.

Thinking back on it, the last game I was really hyped for would have been Aion, back in 2009 for the NA/EU release.

Anyway, it's great to see new posts in the Newly Arrived section! So jump on board the hype-train with everyone else on the forum, as the long wait for Ashes of Creation begins!
  • Welcome Nevik!

I'm sorry to hear about your past with CCP but I guess you've already taken that as a learning experience. I hope this community will encourage you to write more on the forums. Be sure to check in the community discord too!

What I love about the Ashes project is the way it brings old school MMORPGers back to the genre. The fact that the developers understand the POV of the gamers and really listens us is so rare nowadays and I have to appreciate what Indrepid studios is doing here.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll try to answer the best I can.
  • Wish I could say the same. A lot of innovation has been lacking and increased graphics has resulted in decreased features and load times. Aion and a lot of eastern MMOs have sure disappointed. Its been a long time since I've enjoyed a new MMO, I still like The Realm, Asheron's Call, and many older games that had flaws but also seemed to have some soul to them.

    Welcome
  • Thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to reading more on the forums and maybe posting my thoughts. I check out the discord when I get the chance, I been a very long anti-social streak lately, but I might give a go. I am really excited to see how the game develops and it seems like it should shape up to something that many old MMORPGers might actually come out and actually get into. I've pretty much been in an anti-social anime-filled hole for a long time since Rift if you can imagine that. I really liked Rift with all its faults. I guess I really liked it more when it was a sub game and as it when further into FTP my friends in my guild left and I felt like I was in a raid surrounded by people I didn't even know. Ever since then I've popped my head out and see this game or that and been disappointed by the game but even more by the guilds I've been in and I've been wary of getting too involved with any guilds since then. I think with this game's approach player interaction will probably finally break me out of my gloomy mood of instant ques and maybe cause more people in a guild to actually talk to you and not just stay within a group of their own friends but who knows.

    Rambling Done :)
  • Hey! If you happen to be looking for a friendly guild with lively chat and an anime fanatic as a leader (not me though I've had my fair share of the kotaku world), contact me on discord. See my username & number on my signature. We could really use an old timer like yourself with our ranks :D (lurkers are welcomed too). The guild is EU based though.

    Check our <a href="https://www.ashesofcreation.com/forums/topic/controversity-probably-eu/" target="_blank">guild page here on the forums</a> ;)
