Console Potential With AoC

Okay, so right away I understand how this might be voodoo, and believe me I'm PC Master Race > All, all day. I know that they say its only "currently" being developed for PC. However, the current trend I've personally seen lately with games like Destiny & ESO and their subsequent success in the console realm has been entertaining to say the least. As an avid day 1 Destiny player (yes, still, really) I have met so many people who were new to an MMORPG style of gaming, and instantly fell in love. I'm assuming the same can be said for ESO. Most of my ESO experience was on PC, but I did purchase it for my Xbox One to basically see how a fully fledged MMO handled on console. I personally thought it was beautiful, and Bethesda did a great job porting it to console. Now, would it be too much of a jump to say this game could be ported for console? I would assume, from a business standpoint, it could only open a world of opportunities for AoC. After watching the gameplay videos my initial reaction was "This breathes console release." I'm not too sure if the dev's have already touched on this subject, but I wanted to engage the community and see what other people might think. I'm new to the AoC hype, and I am definitely looking forward to its release. SWG (Pre NGE) & Vanilla WoW were my starting points with MMO's. Vanguard Saga of Heroes was a bittersweet, short lived, amazingly fun time for me. Planetside 2 is still amazing to me even though I'm not playing it like I used to. I love MMO's like the rest of you, and I hope that when the time comes we will all be able to call AoC home. Stay classy, and game on. FOR THE HORDE!

  • They have touched the subject and it's essentially out of scope for the project.

Honestly don't waste your breath with that - people who bash console players are ridiculous. I too play on PC (in Final Fantasy 14) and several people in my guild play on PS4. Albeit there are no plans for it now, I hope that changes in the future. Opening up more avenues for people to join is always better when its sub based. Period.

That said, if/when they do open it I hope they follow FF 14s model and not ESO's. In 14, PC and PS4 plays play on the same servers so everyone interacts. If memory serves me correct, ESO had PS4 and PC players separated.
  • They did state they were not going to focus on having it on console out the gate, but they are doing work with the coding and all that techy stuff so that in the (far) future it could be a possibility and easier to implement. It also seems possible due to the fact they are having a limited amount of "active skills", in comparison to other games where you have 4 bars full of 20 active skills a piece. I think this is a good move, even if it does just stay on PC.

But I would imagine if AoC releases by their stated date (~Dec. 2018), and if there is a lot of people pushing for it to be on console, we could -possibly- see AoC on consoles by maybe 2 years later in 2020 some time. But that's just a really, really big guess that is pushing it. I wouldn't say it's impossible to happen, but it will be quite some time if it even does occur.
