I loved the Idea about the Nods, how player housing is up graded as the land Community Center levels up.
I also love the idea on how players can own land on the out side of the Main Community Center (( That were brought up in the Nod Videos. ))
Personally I feel that these lands should be able to be bought at the same time, the first player Housings are able to be bought, and up grade in the same way. With that sed some players would lean more of the classical type farming style, some more Iron working, stable building, Taverns and so on. Me Personally I would lean more to the Wilderness side, like that of a druid's grove, and I'm sure a number of others would love that as well.
The benefits I would suggest that comes from a Druid's Grove would be more verity, and or better grown herbs for cooking, and to craft some type Healing / Manna potion(s)/Supplies.

As to defending, you will have to defend the node from sieges, because if your node is gone so will your freehold. Other than that, I don't think there is much concern for it.
