Platform Question

So I'm new to this site and to Ashes Of Creation.

I recently have been hearing about this new game and decided to watch some youtube videos giving coverage of this. Needless to say I fell in love with it after watching my first few videos and I was all ready to put down some serious cash for the kickstart. Until I saw that this was a PC windows only game xD

What are the odds this game might be available for Consoles? And could we get the same kickstart rewards? Or are we just SOL?

  • I actually answered this exact question to the best of my knowledge on a previous post. I will just copy and paste it here. The first paragraph concerns things I know for a fact from interviews I've watched with Intrepid Studios. The second paragraph is just my opinion. I hope it helps!

"They did state they were not going to focus on having it on console out the gate, but they are doing work with the coding and all that techy stuff so that in the (far) future it could be a possibility and easier to implement. It also seems possible due to the fact they are having a limited amount of “active skills”, in comparison to other games where you have 4 bars full of 20 active skills a piece. I think this is a good move, even if it does just stay on PC.

But I would imagine if AoC releases by their stated date (~Dec. 2018), and if there is a lot of people pushing for it to be on console, we could -possibly- see AoC on consoles by maybe 2 years later in 2020 some time. But that’s just a really, really big guess that is pushing it. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to happen, but it will be quite some time if it even does occur."
  • How disappointing :/

Oh well. Very beautiful looking game, But PC gaming seems to expensive lol
  • Honestly, it's cheaper than long-term console gaming. You have new consoles coming out every so many years and you have to (for the most part) keep buying games. You can get a good PC and replace parts here and there for a small fraction of the price of buying a new system and keep playing games. I will say it does cost more up front, as for a good rig it will cost you anywhere from $700 to a little over $1000. But that rig will outlast multiple generations of consoles with minimal upkeep (changing RAM cards, fans, video cards, etc.). And those examples I gave would only need replaced if they go out. If you buy a decent computer you may not have to replace anything for 5+ years. And when you do replace something, it will be $50-$100 tops (unless you completely fry the thing, which is highly unlikely).

But I do understand where you're coming from. I'm a PS4 player now on Elder Scrolls Online and have to buy a new PC just for this game, but luckily we have roughly a year and a half to save money for a decent PC. But like I said, you save up and buy a decent PC in the price range I gave, and it will pay for itself when new generations of consoles keep coming out and you stick the same computer running just as smoothly with very, very minor (and cheap) upkeep.
  • PC gaming is always more expensive upfront but I can guarantee you I've spent less money on games since I built my pc than any console gamer that sinks in the same amount of playtime.
