Alpha Access prices already skyrocketed
Just a friendly advice at Intrepid Studios.
The fact, that you´re only selling access to the "later" Alpha phases by Kickstarter, created a market for the special pre-Alphas.
On a well known account selling page, an alpha access, that was given away during your key giveaways/livestreams, was sold for 2,500 US-$. Was that in any way intended?
Maybe you shouldn´t give away your special Alpha access keys like that o.0

Whomever sold it... Man, (s)he sure got rich quick lol. >v<
More like people willing to pay stupid prices for something created the market.

Not that yet.
The earlier you get in Alpha (Q4/2017/, the earlier you see the source code/engine/gameplay etc.
As a hack/cheat/bot tool developer you need that early access.
I guess it was a guy of that kind who bought it.
I think prices will decrease, but Alpha keys reach high prices many times.
Remember that GW2 Alpha/Beta Access for 1k?
Or the Hearthstone Beta Accounts for 2k?
The more the hype, the more tha money.
Looks like Intrepid did a good job on this.
The guy who sold it can now be a leader of men including lifetime account for his best friends/family.
Congrats!

Alpha access sold at Kickstarter starts Q4/2018
Alpha access given awav at streams/site starts Q4/2017
That´s one year(!) before any Kickstarter.
Enough of time to reverse engineer, collect information etc.

To be honest, it´s hard to resist to sell the Alpha access to a game in development for a greater audience.
I thought that prices could get high, but THAT high.

It´s sad but true.
It´s a one time investion of 2.5k bucks, if the guy is good in reverse engineering and selling a solid bot/hack/tool after release, he will get ten times (or more) his investment back. Same happened in BDO and ArcheAge before, but there you could get the client in advance for free (Korean Version)
Did this really happen? I don’t get why someone would pay that much for a pre-alpha when the 500$ pledge give you access to early apha stage and tons of other rewards xD

No, that´s not the earliest. AFAIK Kickstarter rewards including Alpha access start in Q4/2018, that´s a year after the Pre-Alpha starts.

If i understood Steven correctly, the Alpha access given away at streams/drawings is for all the time until release. Then you have to buy a sub.

Ooo if that is true I hope I can give away my alpha access from the kickstarter. I already have alpha access won from twitch so it'd be a waste to redeem both.

Q4 2018 is the *worst case scenario* for KS Alpha.
Just sayin.

Yep, that´s what i got, too.
So actually you can say Ashes is giving away thousands of dollars each week ^^
You can read that in the discord I think it's even pinned to the Ashes_discussion channel, Steven told us that himself.
I doubt anywone bought it for 2.5k simple because it would be a thing between two people and noone else will know about it. Noone will go around and tell people he bought the key.
[quote quote=21672]To clarify the keys that we get in the weekly drawing (and the raffle for that matter) is for a seperated alpha that happens before the first public one, it will be under NDA and invite only. Those keys will only be available for that alpha phase, the persistent alpha will only be accessible through backing.

Firstly, the Friends and Family (NDA) test at the end of this year is chosen at random one week, handpicked the other. There are precautions to make sure it's not a spammed account. These keys, are already added to your account.
As for the keys for Kickstarter Alpha in 2018, the Early Bird specials started at $400, for the first come, first serve basis and when those sold out, increased in price more and more. Same items at the $500 one.
As for the "key selling sites", trust me when I say that I'm aware of those sites and it's usually fake. The way to drive up a price on something or sell something on those sites, as I have seen in the past, is to make a fake account, make a fake sell and add fake comments saying that it was successful and that it sold. Don't put too much trust in these types of things, guys.
