Weapons: 2-Hands-System like in GW2
The Devs said in their last Podcast, that every class can use pretty much every weapon type. Ok. But what exactly will "weapons" in AoC be?
Is there a "Broadsword" as weapon type and you can hold two in both hands, so you got a dual sword? Or will there be a weapon type calld "Dual Sword"? Or is a "Broadsword" only a main handed weapon and you only can hold a "Shield" in the secondary hand? Or will you even be able to wear two shields in both hands? Same goes for a "Dagger". And what's with the two handed weapons like a "Greatsword". Will you be able to hold a two handed "Greatsword" in one hand, like in Dark Souls, but it's not that strong like you would wear it with both hands?
Those are weird questions, I know. Because most MMOs would take it like: The one handed Sword is only a main handed weapon and you could hold a Dagger or a Shield in the secondary hand. Or something like that.
But Guild Wars 2 was pretty much the first MMO (afaik) that implemented that "Two-Hands-System" like it's common in offline RPGs like Skyrim or Dark Souls, etc.
So I'm curious what they are going to do. And what's your opinon about this topic? What do you want to see in AoC?

Aion also had a dual sword system as well but it wasn't as sophisticated as Lineage II.
As for dual shields, that would be an interesting concept that I have no seen, but I feel like while it would greatly increase your damage negation, it would also tank(lul) your DPS. Which I guess could be okay as long as the crowd control skill are worthwhile for you to no have to do damage in between cool downs.
Here is a video of a Blade Dancer using dual swords in Lineage II, Orcs could also dual wield very fast attacking fist weapons, their attack speed was insane, but the damage her hit was much smaller due to the speed it attacked.

Will instruments be weapons? This will of course be highly ineffective for a standard martial class, but I could see a mage operate a violin to channel their spells just like a bard would.
Can you wear 2 shields or possibly a 2 handed shield?

Oh ok good to know :D
But ok, I have to say that two shields would weird, but very cool though. It was more like an example. But I really hope they will doing it great because that will result in a high diversity of different builds.
[quote quote=22137]I’m expecting them to have one-handed weapons like most modern MMOs, but there are 2 questions that arrised for me:

Hmm, that would be an interesting idea. I think the violin thing could really be possible. But I would say it doesn't do as much damage as a staff or so. Since those instruments are made for the bars class.
And the two-handed shield sounds really interesting and I've never thought about it. But it could really helpful for the front soldiers to charge in a metropolis. So that they could tank the most possible damage to bring their allies more or less save into the city to attack it.
Ok... now I'm a bit overjoyed :D
Will weapons be wielded in a way that makes sense
In many MMOs a two-handed sword is wielded like a two-handed axe or vice versa. which does not make sense at all. i'm not advocating for real realistic behavior, but at least don't let us swing a sword like a baseball bat, an axe like a sword and so on
Do weapons actually matter or are they only stat sticks?
Again in many MMOs the type of weapon doesn't really matter. it's mostly only for the visuals, and all your skills do the same no matter if a axe, sword, dagger, mace, staff etc is used. In ESO Weapons have their own skills disconnected from classes, in GW2 Weapons have different skills based on class and weapon type. What system will we see in AoC?
Rogue backstabs Mage, using a Twohander, Critical hit for 9999
It was mentioned that there might be no restriction on what weapons classes can use. And i really want to see a Rogue sneaking behind someone to backstab them with a nice twohander. And twohanders are not that heavy(roughly 4kg) that sneaking would not be possible
Can we end them rightly?
