Nodes. Are they static?

Basically I want to know if zone of influence nodes are pre determined..will cities always form in the same place?

Comments

  • From the twitch talk today, I would say yes. That is based on the discussion about how they will script the events rather then the "story blocks" that Next was planning for a fully dynamic world.

However, the level of the node (0-5) will change based on player activity. Where a metropolis is one day may be gone the next due to losing a siege. Should the players rebuild it, and make the same choices, then I would expect to see a very similar metropolis return.
  • I had already heard that Metropolises would look different based on the majority race sending info to the nodes in a specific zone of influence but i was just wondering if there were like 5 possible node placements and only one occurred. So I take it that regardless of where you are that specific node will always crop up in the same place.(I would guess they HAVE to do it this way so they can design flat terrain around the node for sieges etc.)
  • I think the nodes are static but cities will not always be in the same place because players will likely focus on different nodes on different servers. I think part of the conflict will be which specific nodes get the attention necessary to become a village and perhaps then which of those villages will be come the town. That town may take over several villages. We might need to destroy some of the villages in order for the town to grow. I think at that point there won't be nearby towns that are enveloped by a city, but there will be nodes that are enveloped by the city and then again when the city becomes a Metropolis.

But, I think there are several nodes within a region that all have the potential to become a city, it's just a matter of which one is found first and/or which one gets the most 'love" from the avatars.

[/quote] So, my theory about trying to get a city started near a riverbank so we can have a ship yard is possible as long as there's a node placed there?
  • With the extended naval content kickstarter stretch goal realized, which opens up water transport of caravans, i think your assumption that there will be nodes that could be close to rivers or other waterways could be correct.
  • so now that we know nodes will be developing in the under realms ,are those nodes gonna be sought after initiialy? Will people be hunting for caves or will the under realm be higher level stuff and we will have to siege larger nodes to open up the possibility for an under realm metropolis?
