Question about destructible evironments

I just recently drank the hype koolaid so I apologize if this is information I just haven't come across yet...

There is another MMO currently in production that also uses destructible environments. Their system in place allows for those environments to be reset.

Are there any plans to have occasional resets in AOC? If so are there certain factors that would decide if the reset was necessary?

Ooooo what game has destructible enviroments? and we dont have any word if Ashes will have it yet, maybe they will answer that in a future dev blog :)
  • Man, you are quick with the answers. Thanks :)

Crowfall was the game I was referring to. They have some interesting ideas at work but overall I'm not liking the direction they are headed with the things you can buy with real money. I feel like it will create an extreme p2w vibe. I'm not above cash shops that offer cosmetic or even convenience items but what they seem to be pushing towards is too much for me imo.

ahhh yeah crowfall ive heard about that one, sadly that seems to be the norm in regards to being p2w thankfully ashes promises not to be p2w witch is a nice change.
  • Well we don't have completely solid information, but they did say that destruction of nodes, environment and such done by either mobs or players will have a longterm meaningful affects on the area and the world :)
So small resets are probably done by rebuilding a node/town, but there might be long term desctruction of otherthings :)
  • So im thinking how the environments interact whit the player, i mean if im in a castle and then a wall is destroyed the debris will hit the player? *-*

The reset can be in form of player/monster invasion and natural disasters they should not be a hard reset but if the city is weak it prob go down
  • I think they have already said nodes evolve in several stages over time and can only devolve in several stages over time.
So I can visualise downgrading node state....but not wiping nodes off the map in one fell swoop.
  • I have not seen any reference to the terrain itself being destructible but I think it would be good if some of the environment was destructible other than nodes... say like bridges (player made?) that could be destroyed if one was fleeing a conflict.
