Holidays or Seasonal Events? {Question and Ideas}

Hey everyone,

I know it'll be awhile before anything along these lines might be added (if at all), but what about seasonal events? We know that there will be a passage of seasons mechanic in the game so it only makes sense there would be events to go with it. Maybe the world's form of Christmas is in their spring, or maybe they celebrate something completely different. From the way the developers make the system sound, seasons don't last very long. So most events wouldn't be that big, just things that add flavor to the world. A better thing is if lore will play a part in the events. Something along the lines of some race celebrates a season differently than another and there's a small conflict?

Another thing is that other MMOs have holidays that relate to IRL ones, a question is if that will play a role? I wouldn't be so sure if that would mesh well with the game. I would be okay with holiday cosmetics went on sale during that time.

  • I'm pretty sure they confirmed seasonal events - just can't remember which Q & A it was in.
  • i like the ideal of seasonal events. i would like to see a winter/Christmas event or a Halloween event would be great. some kind of summer event. i do like the ideal of a race having their own event that would be fun to see. i would also like to see a yearly one...meaning when the game turns a year old and then on
  • Yeah I think they did confirm Seasonal events and honestly my only request is that for "Easter"

    A World boss would appear and it be a bunny!!

  • I do remember one of the podcasts referencing "in game" holidays as well. Perhaps some neat community type world holidays. Would help extend the immersion in the game world. While I do love events and some of other games have neat little celebrations, it does kinda suspend immersion a little.

    True but its all in good fun breaking the immersion a little isn't going to kill anyone specially since it only happens like once a year and only for a week or 2

  • I think they badly missed a trick with their calendar TBH.
    But they will have seasonal events and adjust the season cycle to make it work.

    What is the length of the year ?
  • 365.25 days
    In international calendars. In the Julian calendar, the average (mean) length of a year is 365.25 days. In a non-leap year, there are 365 days, in a leap year there are 366 days.
