Stevens World.
What happens when steven introduces something that fundamentally changes the look, feel and functionality of the game?
At the end of the day steven is the paymaster.
What steven says goes.
For instance, we had regional markets, rather than a global auction house.
This made many people happy, because they fundamentally agreed that global auction houses were bad.
Now we have the global stock market system that will effect/dictate all regional economies in the same way as a global auction house.
What happenings when Steven decides on a whim to have machine guns, space travel, hi-tech science?
What happens when exclusive 'cosmetic only' cash shop items have better vs worse 'functionality' like the Dawn-breaker?
What happens when the plans get ever more ambitious, so that the cash-shop demands ever more compulsory sales to survive?
What methods will they employ to enforce those compulsory sales. An almost infinite grind? An almost negligible RNG drop-rate ?
I find myself asking, do I really want to invest my time, money and effort into a game that could instantly change for the worse, on the whim of one person ?
What protects the player-base from wrecklace fundamental game changes ?

Basically, I SoloPlayer1... sell goods with trader's company they can then sell/escort goods through trade route. guilds are paid to escorts your goods. the guild escorts and buys the goods. The guild has no clue they escorted some of your goods or who you are which means you succeeded at a personal level.
^^^My Idea on how these interations could work out.
At the end of the day this is Steven's game and he is well aware that he can't please everyone and that some of the decisions he makes will inevitably turn some people away. I like the look of this game but if I see it turning into something I don't like, I will simply move to a different game. That's the way game development works.
Even regional hubs would be great, I could manage that. A system where I cant really manage to monopolize is ESO as every guild has its own AH. Now that game is a much deeper commitment because you have to get premium stalls in busy quest hubs. It requires a hell of a lot more finesse but players have to invest more time to getting best prices on gear and mats because they are running around hub to hub to price.
I dont think the team is going through all the effort (and financial risk) just to mess it up with machine guns, space travel or whatever. People want to be immersed so things that dont belong in the world would probably drive away players. Other features, like an underwater world or an underrealm are all subject to personal opinions.
The cash shop concept comes from big companies that only produce games to make money. Steven's standpoint and position is directly the opposite of that. He wants to make a game with great features that fit into the context of the games lore. Pay-to-win items in a cash shop is also very uncommon in games with monthly subscription, its more common in free-to-play or buy-to-play games because its the only way to consistently make money.
The bottom line is that Steven and his team want to make a good mmo rpg for gaming enthusiasts, ofc they need to make money but its not their primary goal.
Sorry if that appears rude but the reality is it is Stevens game. He is the CEO and can do whatever he likes. that is a risk we are all taking by pledging or even joining the hype train.
