Node mail/news system

We all live in towns and we all recieve mail/newspapers, why should AoC be any different.
In a social stand point I think implementing News delivery system the leader or government of the node can appoint someone to write the news that will then be delivered to each citizens mail box infront of their house. They can write the news updating the node citizens on what is currently going on, what needs to be done to upgrade node faster, what we need crafted, scheduled events so on and so forth.

This system will bring everyone together allowing for a bigger more economically functional node and everyone will get a chance to socialize more. It will help nodes grow.
I feel that if we don't have this sort of node system everyone that is a citizen will be doing their own thing not working together for the greater good of their node and they will fall behind.
What do you think?

  • And maybe you can actually get a mail especially if your a part of the 3 Main sects Thieves, Scholar, and the Traders on what is the lacking resource of a node, and maybe what is the most needed. But that will just make the things easier.. Hmmm.. I think it's best for my idea to go to the trash today.. Your's was good the Node Government Mail system, State Message if you prefer haha..!

I'll actually say "TAKE DOWN THE PRIVATE MESSAGE SYSTEM and the WHISPER thinggy!!" But you hit the spot bro!

In order for you to communicate especially with guild members outside your "Home Node" you could actually send them mail that can maybe reach them in a couple of minutes to hours depending on how far the node is.. But damn it's just too good to be true. althou it will put a new vibrant color on the term "MASSIVE" again. Imagine planning stuff ahead of time in-game .. But still the existence of third party communication systems will just leave this thing so.. Damn.. still nice idea.

    Cheers!!
  • It's better if nodes have a auto-news system (placed by the server or active admins/GM's). This will prevent trolls from spamming everyone with useless stuff.
The best way to keep people interested in building/leveling/contributing to the nodes is by using Nodes-based Quests, that give exp and/or items required for doing important things (be it gear or something else, pets, basic mounts, etc) for the players while they're leveling, if they contribute and earn something they'll feel more satisfied (specially since the best benefits will always go to the 'TOP' aka Node Leaders/Kings/Queens and so on).
  • As I stated above- the node leader sends the mail or appoints someone to it- it's not something everyone can use cause then there is just spam.

This is intended for nodes to be able to work more efficiently together like a community should. Voice chats trump this yes.

But not everyone inside of your node living as cotizens uses voice chat or is in same guild to even get in it.

But stleast the leader can give direction as to what we are all working towards via the news system.

Now giving it to the gms wouldn't work cause they don't know what we want or live in our node.
  • Only if I could unsubscribe. Sorry, like @Atsukai, I can see this being abused and would rather see Official news.
  • Or say for instance, you have a really well organized node- big guild runs it, they managed to split the city into districts and each person knows what district they are in- the news letter that went out today now has quests for each district--
Say for instance district 1 gather this
    District 2 mine resources
    District 3 gather hides.

Think of how this will help a node grow with a bit of organization.
Now the node is running at its maximum capabilities- everything is being produced to increase exp efficiently - this also helps out during war- for positioning and defenses for flanks and attacks.
    Just more possibilities.

How would it get abused if 1 person is only able to send the news?
Not like you will recieve coupons for the grocery store in it.
It's merely a way to organize a node outside of guild members.
It would work great if implemented correctly.
How would official news help your specific node?
I don't feel your seeing the concept behind the idea.

Are you able to elaborate on your reasoning of how it will be abused?
  • I'd certainly like this, although having a troll in office is NOT going to be fun
  • That's why I mentioned the leader gets to decide who does it if they fail he can appoint someone else or do it himself.

what if the leader himself is a troll
