Dwarves

Well just a personal opinion but thanks if you read the thread ^^

I l.o.v.e dwarves :3 Maybe it's because I'm Scottish and whenever I hear a dwarf speak I fan scream and shout "this character...is amazing *_*" and I love their big manly beards <3 Whenever it comes to female dwarves though I'm like uuuurgh. I feel that no mmo has found the perfect female dwarf composition. I'd love to play a female dwarf if the option is available but I hate it when something simple as female dwarf hair always seems to be short stubby pony tails, a bob around the face, Mohawks, you know just ridiculous hair for such an amazing race. If male counterparts have big massive ...beards well I would like female dwarves to have big hair// that shows off their character as being strong - rather than just having manly attributes such as their body shape. Or give our lady dwarves beards too xD Be creative don't just give us short obese pixie cut lady dwarves :3

I love Dwarves too and would love to see Lady Dwarves get as many customization options as their male counterparts!

As you can tell by the name I absolutely agree. The only thing we have to go by so far is the concept art of the Nikua in which you can see the woman carrying a basket with what looks like long hair held up in a headdress of some form in the background and then way behind them you can see a couple sitting on a log and it looks like the woman has two long pigtails or braids going down her back. Overall I like it she looks stocky by feminine.

Much agree - Lady dwarves need a tender touch where customization is a concern.

Hair can be a large part of a characters persona and dwarves have had some good as well as bad hair options. And beards - While male dwarves get some nice facial hair for the most part female beards, if they're ever available, seem to be mini-male versions. Female beards need to both be dwarvish as well as different enough that it just doesn't seem like a hurriedly slapped together feature with of course the option for hairless cheeks for those that feel lady dwarves don't have beards (yes, there are some out there, believe it or not).

On another site I suggested a compromise. Lots of verity with plaits including plaits that are woven to gether under the chin making a fake beard. I need to find a good female dwarf model to model the thing on in blender, Wings 3d or sculptris.
Another design would be where armor pieces are plaited into the hair replacing helmets. The iron butterfly hair style. Don't mess with the dwarven warrior womens hair!

Your right there is a lack of variety in female dwarf hair. And we have not one but two dwarf races to contend with.

I'm working on a houseboat design for the Nikua dwarves because it makes sense that it would have a racial building style for the tropical dwarfs and opens up rivers, lakes, ponds and sea for homestead claims.

It may not be where the developers want to go but a houseboat with pontoons and marine crops can be done to make a Nikua house claim unique. There are several places in the pacific and indian ocean where this is common. It needs a lot of work though.

well it really depends on which cultural background they use for the dwarves
for the island dwarves, if they go for a polynesian looks, it may be quite simple open hair or as we see in the concept art, stacked up hair

for the mountain dwarves, who knows. If they go with a celtic reference they may have braids

or they just go full fantasy and do whatever they want

I really like the ideas you posed here. I think hair plaited into a beard is also a nice alternative .-. If I remember correctly a character in Mad Max Fury Road had a hair plaited beard xD Yes Yed Yes hair plaited into hair accessories xD I'm tired of flat dwarvish hair xD Even though I agree that the tropical dwarves look fab xD their tattoos help and big hair accessory - I just wonder how they will look in their character models xD

The bearded dwarven women is pretty underrepresented in places. I'd like to see that as an option. Or, at give them some decent sideburns and bold beautiful hair.

Couldn't agree more with you. The take on the island dwarves is pretty interesting and new. Dwarf females have been pretty rare in games as it is. Can't wait to see more concept art and maybe the in-game models when they're ready.

Huzzah to the dwarves! I absolutely can't wait for more information about the Dwarves in Ashes. As to the topic of the lady dwarves, I have to say.... I think the right appearance can be found for sure. I was at the PAX Prime a few years ago where SOE unveiled it's Dwarven character artwork, and I thought their female dwarf concept was beautiful. Character art for Dwarves in EQNext sadly never to see reality Hopefully that magic of visual aesthetics can be had here in Ashes as well. On a somewhat unrelated note, what do you think the best class combo would be for the classic "Dwarven Defender" archetype? Tank/Fighter? Tank/Tank? Perhaps it is far too soon to tell for speculation.

@SaintJoanna Those images are great *_* I defiantly agree :0
@ Rumbleforge They look awesome aswell *_* That's big hair i would like to see ^^

As for best racial class combo I imagine it will probably be tank and warrior related specs but I'll be defying the odds and going as bard/cleric or cleric/bard depending what lacks in my guild ^^

Well if we have dwarfs I want Goblins, just saying

Character creation for dwarves should run the gamut of racial features - just like humans.
We should have options for a range of brown skins, kinky hair, afro puffs, and Asian eyes.
Rather than having them look only look European.

If we have to be stuck with only one ethnicity for features. Polynesian instead of European is fine.

I think the classes favored by Dunir stats will be Tank and Cleric and Paladin.
Looks like the classes favored by Nikua stats might be Fighter and Mage and Fighter/Mage.

i think as well that they should get some sort of facial hair, but a full beard is a little over the top i think.
i really like the sample of the read haired dwarven lady, and i think its still sort of feminine. its more like an accessory then a real beard.
i mean u have to give the dwarven men some sort of attractive women dont you? :)
maybe something like the #errectedeybrows XD
how about some wierd eycollours (thinking violett or pink or orange) maybe even glowing in the dark a little.
what you think of 4 fingers and triple breasts? for males as well of course. would make them more unique

Women with full beards are attractive.
